Help locating VSS in 98 CL 2.3
Hi all,
My wife's 98 CL 2.3 seems to start having rough transmission problem (slow shifting, etc). After reading this forum, I thought it may worth a try replacing the vehicle speed sensor (vss) first.
Now, can anyone tell me where the vss in CL 2.3 is?? I looked at the pic posted by another member, but his is a 3.0, and it's not at the same location. I also have a repair manual, but it's for 2.2, and it's not at the same location either.. I thought even though 2.2 and 2.3 are different engines, they're using the same tranny. Anyway, where the heck is it?..
Please help.. I've spent the last 3 hours getting my hands dirty just trying to find the darn vss.. I also tried to look up on the net but I didn't have much luck.

im pretty sure th 98/99 cl's dont have an actual speed sensor. they use main shaft and counter shaft speed to determine the vehicle speed. if its hanging when shifting check the pressure switches. they are for 3rd gear and 2nd gear clutch packs. located here.
or round about. there.. they are number 11 on the drawing.

Thanks a lot for the message and for the help. I guess the problem is my transmission then.. )$*!)_#(@_#!@#.. which is weird, coz i don't think the 2.3 CLs are having transmission problems like the 3.0's. *sigh*. Transmission slipping and no accelleration power at the 4th gear are defitely symptomps of broken tranny, aren't they?

thats not a usual tranny problem. i know 4 cyl accords (very similar tranny) have problems with the lock up solenoid. #7 in the diagram. that will cause the same problem.
