Angry HELP - Factory alarm randomly goes off

Need your advice ppl.

I own a 97 Acura 3.0 CL that I purchased last September. Recently (starting this winter season), the factory installed alarm has been going off randomly. It happens after I have driven it, parked and the car has been sitting in the driveway for some time (15 seconds to 5 minutes). Sometimes the alarm won't go off, hence the randomness. I have already taken the car to the Karen Radley dealership in Woodbridge, VA four times over two months to get this fixed. They made me purchase a driver-side door actuator and replaced it. That part and labor cost me around $350, but the alarm still isn't fixed. I am taking the car back there this coming Monday. Anything you guys suggest that I should have them specifically looked at? Or should I just ask them to deactivate the alarm? Thanks in advance to everyone.

the problem could be in the door switch (door trigger itself), hood switch, or trunk switch. To easily check your door switches, just open either door and see if your dome light comes on. Then close your door, and your dome light should go off. Next, have a buddy crawl into the back seat and see if the trunk light goes out after you close the trunk. Now, for the hood switch, you'll have to take out your passenger seat, and find a light green wire at the factory alarm module. This wire should be in the smaller of the two harnesses and should be up at the top left of the harness.

Find yourself a DMM (digital multimeter), and see if the voltage drops down to 0 volts when the hood is closed. If it does not, then you need a new hood latch. Hope that doesn't confuse you too much.

Thank you for all your responses. I appreciate them greatly. I will call the dealership tomorrow to find out if they have the hood latch in stock or they need to order it in. Thanks again to you all.

Hood picture

I did my oil change today and found that a green plug is disconnected coming off the hood opening mechanism (picture attached). Since it's disconnected and my alarm is still going off (5 times so far this morning) is there still a chance that the hood latch that's causing the problem?

to bring an older thread back to life...did replacing the hood latch end up fixing the problem? I'm having the EXACT same problem with my factory alarm going off randomly.

Hoot Latch did not fix it.

No, the hood latch solution did not work for me. I took my car to the Karen Radley dealership in Woodbridge, VA. It took them 5-6 attempts over 3 months before their mechanics were actually able to disable it. I do not value the alarm system very highly, so I opted to disable it to reduce my headaches. But I hope you will have better luck than me at getting your problem resolved. I can only suggest one thing - request your car to be serviced by the master technician (who was the guy to finally disable the alarm for me).

good to know that. thanks for the info. I unplugged the wires going to the brain of the alarm but my remote stopped working. Since they disabled it, can you still use the remote entry?

Remote entry still works.

Yes, the remote entry still works. The trunk lid also opens up at the press of the button.

i'll have to take mine to the dealer. I can't even ock my doors because the alarm goes off whenever I lock them!! how much in parts/labor did it cost you to actually have them disable it? did you look into getting it repaired further? what kind of $$ did you have to spend altogether? just trying to get an idea how much they'll try to get from me!
