Having issues after debadging...

Hey guys. I debadged my trunk but you can still see the outline of the letters. I used bug and tar remover and then used goo-gone and it still isn't all coming off...any tips?

light polish (not wax) and/or paint cleaner

You can usually get Megs paint cleaner (Step 1) OTC anywhere. If you dont know the difference between a wax and a polish, stick with the cleaner, you cant get in touble with it.

remove the wax in the areas where the badges were and repeat the process just in those areas. You don't have to detail your entire car again!

I've got the same problem I did this like a year ago and it still hasn't blended in. It wouldn't be to late to try all this wax stuff everyone's talking about would it?

You pulled off your clear coat around the edges of where the adhesive tape was. I did the same thing. It sucks. It wont go away either

i debadged and the problem was that years of dirt trapped around the edges of the badges had eaten past the clear coat and into the paint. buffing, polishing, not much help, just gunna have to sand down and repaint the trunk one day. i dont mind the ghost edges much since from a few paces away you cant see it anymore.

a little 3M fine cut rubbing compound is good for anything all other stuff can't do. awesome/very versatile stuff @ 10bucks a bottle -- great to have around. just don't work it too hard.

with each trunk it is a different story, like everyone else before me mentioned, depends how well it was atatched in teh factory, weather conditions and method of removing, all play teh role in leaving some to none marks. I guess I am one of the fortunate ones, I would say barely noticeable. I used a heat gun to get mine off and really heated it up good, to the point where some of my emblem melted. Then used a scratch remover and buffer, and drill with the buff end to give it a good "scrub". Also noticed that after a few washes and was job, in after about 2 months the left side ("Acura") was completely smooth and shiny, there is still a short line from the "2.2" badge. Unless it's really bad or clear coat peeled off, u might want to consider just sanding and painting the trunk.

true, you have to fill in the hole, both of them :-). I had a friend do that for me who used to do custom painting. He filled them in with some sort of sealant and then "melted" paint around it and buffed it up, You can only see them in an angle or when you run your fingers, other than that no repainiting and belnded right in.
