Goodbye CL

I have a 97' 3.0 Premium that I am getting rid of. These cars are very sleek and nice but YOU CAN ONLY MAKE THEM SO FAST. Don't get me wrong I love my car, but I hate it when my buddies kick my ass in their little civic si's. Their just like racecars. A cl will never do that for me. The civics dont have heated leather seats or a bose stereo but they sure will bust that ass. That is what they are made for. Just like a cl is a luxury car, a very nice nice car but not a racecar. They ARE NOT made for that.

too bad you have a 3.0.... if you have a 2.2 or 2.3 you can put in a h22a... then you kick ass

I don't think that mid- to upper-13 sec in 1/4 mile is that slow!

The 3.0 can be made to go pretty fast (IMO).

Anyway, good luck on the sale.

Okay then....go with the expendable transportation. The CL is pure class with an attitude.

Hell, if you reallly want to go fast, just get a bike.

Since when were Civics considered full on race cars? And if you're talking drag only, why not a Mustang or a Camaro?

I think this is a case of "smaller penis envy".

If you really want a Civic, go for it.
But saying that these cars can only go so fast isn't really all that true. It's just a matter of $$.
I think a better statement would be "I don't have enough money to make this car faster".

BTW - Don't beleive your friends propaganda... Civics are NOT pure racecars. They are grocery getters with "tuning potential"... only because another car's engine can fit in the engine bay.

"Integra Type R's are detuned racecars" may be a better statement.

I saw an 80's Ford Fiesta run 11 sec pass at the track on Sat. Should I say "Ford Fiesta's are racecars!"? No.

I like Honda/Acura.
I think you'll love your Civic, but you'll have to spend some cash if you want to go real fast.

They could run that fast...just like almost any other car...just gotta put the money into the car...and if anyone on this board had that much $....then they most likely wouldn't own a CL in the first place...

he prolly is full of shit because i was surprised to beat him. he told me he can rev up to 9-10 no problem without hurting the engine so i tried and power shifted it and i heard a tink and thought i broke something so i gave him his car back and left, but his car was still ok i think.

if you put a turbo on an si for lets say 4 grand or so everything included, your gonna be wooshin and blowing off like a son of a bitch hauling ass beating mustangs and camaros. these guys put a turbo on one in houston and beat a brand new z06 corvette-by 2 cars. not to mention this guy is a professional drag racer, running 9's in the quarter. the civic is a lighter car, cls have big ass engines compared to the little 1.6 liter 4 cylinder but they are heavier. Weight has A LOT to do with whos car is faster. also i want some of you guys to find a civic si on the interstate and try to keep up with him, hell leave your ass. sure youll get to 130, 140+ but theyll beat you there. also to try to race them around curves(hell just try to stay behind them) you cant keep up- the cls are not supposed to be raced around like that. their longer too. it is a luxury car. That is what it is made for.

Mos Def the Civic handles better generally. Smaller lighter car has everything to do with it.

In the distant future I hope to get an old civic to strip down and swap engines in. Lots of fun for a project car.
Unfortunately I don't have the cash for that now so I'll hold off.
If I do keep the CL for a few more years and it's paid off etc. I'll have to decide what i want to do. Turbo the CL or get a project car? Hmmmm.... dreams dreams dreams...

Enjoy your Civic.
