i'm planing on getting a 7.2" LCD screen, and putting it the center console with some custom work. but i thought it would attract thieves. but i;m also gettint it tinted real dark, how many of you have a setup like this one??

I know of a couple people on this board that did that, i have some pics somewhere, they had a 7in widescreen though if im not mistaken, it was basically the size of a double din. Also that white show car cl has a screen in his dash too

i've got 7 inch widescreen + dvd in my dash. sucks since I can't remove the face on it or anything...but no problems yet. i got the viper responder with dual stage shock alarm and perimeter sensor, so if someone comes up close to look inside it will give a warning beep...and with dark tint you have to be close to see whats in the dash, so it works out alright.
and if i do get robbed, ive got all receipts and serial numbers and everything for insurance...hopefully that wont happen though.

what do you mean a pop out? removeable face? i didnt know the sony had that. i had to get kenwood anyway since i already had kenwood amps and kenwood satellite receiver...not compatible with the sony screen.
each insurance company is different on their policies, and even within one company it varies by state. I have allstate from virginia, and their policy is that anything physically attached to the car is covered. even if you had 10 grand of stereo equip. its still covered by your basic policy, as long as its attached to the car. all of my stereo stuff is covered. however, in arizona, the policy is different. they don't cover a lot of stereo stuff without some kind of special coverage. I ran into a problem with this last year when my car got stripped...I had a virginia policy but I was in arizona for school...took a lot of arguing to convince them that my stuff was covered. it ended up working out since I had virginia policy...if that makes sense.
just call your insurance company and let them know what you have in your car. keep all the receipts. keep the installation receipt if you dont do it yourself, because that labor is covered too. take pictures of everything new in the box, then take pictures of it installed in the car. do everything you can to make it easier to get your money in case you get robbed.
my last car was broken into 3 times last year...so I have some experience with this. got the viper responder alarm now so no one is getting my shit anymore...
