gonna hook up my new system

anyone got the specs on our stock speakers? are the front components 6 1/2 or 5 1/4. also, when removing stock tweeters and putting in new ones (same location) do you have to fuck with the wires? or should they just plug in? same with all the other speakers. im gonna run a V12 amp for my surround, so do i just hook up the amp and run the speakers from the amp? or do i need to rewire everything to make up for the BlOSE stock amp? one last thing, what kind of speakers are recomminded for the best fit? something with a RMS around 40-50 watts? THANKS!!

ok....lets see if i can answer all this........

first, the doors are 5 1/4.....but 6.5 fit with a little modification to the speaker cases.....i did 6.5 and aslong as the magnet isnt too big then they fit......but for easy plug and play id recommend 5 1/4.....also, the wires from the speakers to the back of the headunit are split to the tweeters....so what i did was run new tweeter wire to the crossover, then use the origional door wires to the crossover, then from the crossover to the amp......you have to run new wires to the amp...unles you have a 3.0 which in that case you can use the bose amp wires........umm, for speakers that rms around 50 watts....i'd do a cheap infinity.....or a low line mb quartz.....i did pro-class quartz's....most components range around 80-120 watts......but thats for good ones...search around.....also, dont forget rca's from the amp to the headunit.........and power wire from the battery.....good luck!

Stock door speakers are 6 1/2" (but I used 5 1/4" so I wouldn't need to fuck with the speaker baskets).

I followed the same wire set-up as d5c5b for the front components.

I used the stock wire set-up when possible, tapping into the harness right where it connects to the amp (just unplug the stock amp).

My Infinity Reference tweeters fit right into the stock location with no modification needed (as did the 5 1/4"s and the 6x9s in the rear deck).

Click on my "Fotki" link below to find pics on the stock wiring.

Good Luck!
