Gas Leak - REPAIR GAS TANK???

Has anyone every repaired a leaky gas tank? I have no idea if it can even be done, but it appears that my gas tank has been damaged (looks like something hit the tank or someone backed into something...was must've been the previous owner :spank: )

anyways, it almost looks like it was patched up so I'm wondering what my options are?? is it possible to patch up a pinhole/crack in the tank itself?

I heard from someone that sometimes when the whole gas tank is replaced, the sender unit usually gets screwed too and it has to be replaced so thats why i'm wondering if i can repair/patch it with some JB WELD or something...

any ideas??

How bad is the leak right now? Is it easy to see where it has been patched? Take some pictures of it if you can.

Patching isn't complicated, as long as it's not on a weld

I'll try to take some pictures tonight. It doesn't appear to be on a weld or anything. Just on the bottom back corner of the tank.

Is it possible to patch it without taking the tank off, emptying it, etc. ?? If thats the case I'd most likely just put a new tank on then (as well as pay someone to do it!)

Yes, you can do it with the tank still on. Nice thing about jap cars, is our gas tanks have a drain plug, so if you need to remove the gas to stop the leak, just drain the gas out. Otherwise, you can just apply the patch directly to the tank.

Here are 2 pics of the corner where the gas seems to be leaking from...

I never had a chance to see where the plug is at the bottom...

Is the plug located on the driver's side rear of the tank? (cause its leaking from this location, see pics)
