gas assist trunk lift? anyone done it yet?

just curious.... my searches came up with nothing.
and i'm currently at work.

i was just thinking about the gas assist hood openers in our cl's. and was thinking about whether it would be helpful to add two to the rear trunk. let's say if you open your trunk with your keyfob... would the hydraulic lifts raise the trunk hood?

it's similar to my friend's '99 grand prix GTX.
his front hood and rear trunk hood are both assisted by the small hydraulic lifts.

i also thought it would be helpful for you guys with spoilers, to keep the hood raised.

just a thought. has anyone done this?

Great idea.
Let us know if you do it.

Where would you attach it all?

ahhh... oh goody... a response.

i would like to try it in the spring.
however, i notice that the gas assists are a bit large for the
rear trunk hood. so i might go search for smaller ones.

just an idea.

they make smaller ones, look on some websites that sell hot rods. I installed some on my suburban when we made the one piece lift rear hatch. I'll try to see if i can find the reciepts from where I bought them. One thing you have to be sure about is, make sure you attach the posts far enough up on the truck that it has enough support to hold up the trunk. Although our trunk isn't heavy so you should be fine putting it just about anywhere.
