If you can't dish out the mula for coilovers, I would recommend the Neuspeed Sport Springs. I got those for around $175 new. I believe they go for around that up to $230, depending on where you go. Where do you live?

Just remember, 90% of audio is in the installation. Get a decent brand, but don't go overboard. Ask caraudio forum guys what to get, not the guys at the shop, they're biased (or more-so than people on forums). Don't worry too much about stereo, because within a year you'll wish you would have stuck to performance. If I were you, I'd make a list of EVERY possibly mod you're ever going to want, then number them by priority. That's what I do all the time with my changing ideas =)

Everyone slow down,.........

gr8dale72:
>>What kind of music do you listen to?
Rap and R&B do well with 12" rock and such are usually good with 10" subs.

>>Do you want only a loud bass or do you want clear well defined sound?
I'm not sure if you realize the factory head unit will be enough to power two 12"

>>What price range do you have to work with?
With good resarch into what your buying, decently powered, lower priced equipment can often times be just as satifying on a first car.

>>Do you have any friends or relatives who have installed stereos into before?
The biggest chunk of change you may save is in the installtion costs.

>>Are you planning to rice out the car?
I mean no offense, I just wanted to be sure...... The help here is second to none, it's just not always as receptive to things like falshing neons, talk of turbos, and engine swaps that never happen.

well im with the others, go pick out something that YOU like, dont count on your dad to decide for you, I mean youre listening to it all day..... my dad for instance is happy with his puny distortion-spewing Polypropelyne Pioneers, I cant live for less than my metalized Kappas, anf soon after my new ALpine Type-Xes

Id say next mod after the subwoofers would be a better headunit and a new set of full-ranges to compliment, then again im the sort that believes that bass is there to support a background for the highs....... and the headunit is always a nice thing to have, 1st off because its easier to integrate an external amp for the subs into it, and youll have much better control over it as well as bass boost control from the unit

if youre in the DFW area i'll be more than happy to help you with whatever installation you need

to the underlined piece....... my 7"s will do both all day long, accurately and hard... if I so choose to boost um

to the bolded piece....... umm, NO, nowhere close, a stock internal amplifier cannot HOPE to power even 1 sub, much less 2 all whist powering the full-range speakers... hell even if the full ranges didnt exist and you bridged all to the subs, youll be looking at under 100W at 16-ohms.. and underdriving subs gets into some dangerous teritory, especially by this much

to the italicized piece..... yes it is true that sometimes you will be surprised at what some cheaper sets will do, but for the most part you do get what you pay for in this world, and id say go and spend the money now so that you dont really have to upgrade later

Damn... I was actually going to do this stuff myself this summer when I get allot of cash but looking at this guy's situation, looks like I know about as much as this guy dose. Guess I'll get someone to do it. Would be sweet if someone can do a DIY on a Headunit + Speakers + Amp + Subs.

if you wanna drive it up ill do it for ya... i mean im by no means a licensed professional, but I learned from one and do all my shit myself, as well as jobs for friends......... question is if its worth the gas to ya........ and all that work will take some time (I wouldnt do it in one session)....... the only thing I really cant/dont wanna do is mounting the sub itself, I went and paid somebod to do that for me. you can probably do the HU yourself though, thats the easiest part if you have all the right parts

hooking up the subs isnt hard, all you do is connect the power, ground and RCA cables to the amp.

but its running all that wire is more difficult...... it seems I was misunderstood though, I meant attaching the sub box to the chassis, I can wire up subs, easy, I did all that on my CL as well...... I just dont like the drill at all, its quite possibly my least favorite tool of all time

It is easy, just run the power wire through the rubber grommet under the steering column, and ground on the suspension tower

Wow! These past 2 days I have been literally studying on "stereo system setups". It is easier then it sounds at first. Just got down the basics about ohm, wattage, and amps. What it looks like is I need a 6- channel amp to run the 4 Pioneer speakers and a JL sub. (correct my if i'm wrong) Anyway, I found the grommet in the firewall to run the power to the amp from the battery (thanks blackack!) I already know how to build a sub box/fiberglassing but like I said, I know nothing about cars / stereo systems. But then again, that's why I'm here! The most complicated thing I've seen is the wiring... Looking into that now. Getting most of my info from: https://acurazine.com/forums/newrepl...te=1&p=2738584 Is this good info?

I can all of it from a local retailer MUCH cheaper is the thing though. you gotta look around your area for a good shop, even something thats a small shop, like the one I go to, its kinda ugly on the outside, and small, but overcome this walk inside and its jam full of stuff and he can order even more from practically any brand you want, all legit... and for the most part id rather pay tax than shipping since tax usually ends up less

you can run 2 amps, its not that big of a deal just run a biger 4 ga. through to the back, run a distribution block off that and power your 2 amps...... thats how id do it, is grab an appropriate 4 channel for the full range, and then a good mono-block for the sub alone, that way you get the best for both

and what variety of Pioneers were you geting, and what sub.... think about the amps too

would it be cheaper that way? and I'm not positive on what speakers I want to get but for sure Pioneer full-range speakers and a JL sub. Any suggestions on a low-mid budget? I don't want to put all my summer money on just the stereo system! Still need a drop, oem wing, tint, and cai. Oh, and a cheap Pioneer or Sony hu as well. Hey, I kinda like the Sony Xplode HD radio hu. But I've always been a Pioneer fan.

BTW, dose anyone know why the Blose system is 2ohms? I always thought Bose was the shit till I got the CL...

Sit back because this is kind of a long one

NO SONY, if you want Pioneer, so be it, I kinda like Pioneer, theyre still my 2nd choice on Headunits though, my 1st choice will always be Alpine.... Sony headunits have a notorious habit of being complete pieces of crap... that being said I have a full Sony HOME stereo system and I love it to death.... funny isnt it.. and Bose is more or less the same way, good in home, not in car.... depending on how much youre looking at spending on a headunit just a rough estimate is fine, I/we can point you in the direction of a good unit, or if you post the pioneer youre looking at I can maybe lay out a few alternatives to consider

as for the speakers Pioneer isnt bad, my dad has basic 2-ways front and back on his Corolla, and theyre not bad for cheapo speakers, in general Pioneer is heavy on the use of soft silk dome tweeters, which are fine, but when you turn it up it starts geting worse as you go, theyre clean, but not as clean as stiffer metalized tweets.... id say Infinity Kappa if you can spare the cash, Reference series isnt bad either, but the Kappas are worth the extra...... for the rears I can definately recommend Infinity Kappa 3-ways, be it 6x9 6.5 and a spacer

as for the front... this is where the fun begins........ no real cheap set will work too well since they generally fall too deep to fit in our tight door panels........ even my lower end Infinity Reference in front is barely too deep to fit into our stock baskets (youll see when you get it all apart), you can custom fab a plate to take its place for an extra .5-.75 inches, but thats about it, and thatll cost more..... honestly youre gonna have to spend some money on it, youll need to look into 6.5 component systems using NEODYMIUM magnets, theyll fit since the neodymiums are ALOT MORE compact than standard strontum ferrite magnets...... on a sort of budget I can recomend Alpine Type-X Reference series (the lower model of their flagship series), or Boston Acoustics SL series I believe it is

then the amp thing, it all depends on the kinds you look at, but generally speaking it might be cheaper to run the 2, because the selection of 6 and 5 channel amps is pretty limited and for the most part pretty damned expensive

id lay it out in this order in terms of spending my cash though, id do tint first (welcome to texas... right), then stereo next.. this is since you live with these things every day you drive and they keep you comfortable more or less in your environment, the rest are more or less style and what not

BOse probably made it a 2-ohm system to squeeze more power out of what they had in that amp, thats all I can really think of, higher impedances usually yeild better SQ... AFAIK

Personally I would not get a 6 channel amp, get a 4 channel for your highs, and a monoblock bass amp for your subs. That's the only way to do it

Thanks for the info bro! The Alpine 6.5 Type-X looks great for the front.
I finally chose the JL Audio 12w3v3-4 for the sub.
For the rear speakers you mentioned the Infinity Kappa (693.7i?). I noticed their impedance is only 2ohms. Don't they need to be 4ohms or things will be screwy?
