Exhaust Problem

I went over some decent size bumps today and all of a sudden my car sounds like a ricer. The noise is coming from that braided metal part of my exhaust, right in the middle area of the car. It sounds just like one of those "coffee can" ricer exhausts. What is this braided metal thing, and could something be loose in there? Thanks!

jack it up and shoot some photos for us but from what you're saying, you may have damaged your cat... maybe.

Haha, why do you want to see it so bad?

The braided thing in the middle of your car is probably the cat..
