engine code...need help!

Ok so my engine light came on and i did the paperclip trick...i got 8 blinks from the engine light. SRS light also blinked once (to my knowledge it shouldn't?).

the 8 blinks were all the same so i'm not sure if they were "long" or "short" but they were about a second in between.

so i'm guessing this is either a code 8 (Top Dead Center Sensor Malfunction) or 80 (Exhaust Gas Recirculation Insufficient Flow)?

any ideas?

btw...when would you start counting the blinks? is it when you turn the ignition on, and all the lights come on including the engine light? it then goes off and then starts blinking. do you count it from when the initial engine light goes off or does that count as one?

holy crap does that make sense?

reset the ecu by disconnecting the positive on the battery for 30 min.. if u have a capacitor, make sure you turn on the headlights for a few minutes to drain it. or ull never reset the ecu.
