my friend has a 97 3.0cl and she is having this problem:

-the cigarette lighter doesn't work
-the lights that illuminate the gear from underneath (next to the shifter) don't work
-courtesy lights don't work
-radio DOES work

i checked the fuse under the hood for the lighter/radio and it looked good.

any idea what this could be?
are the 3 non-working things above on the same circuit? could it be wiring or a connector somewhere?

the fuse might look good but u never know. just pull one out from another circuit that is the same size and test it out. i know the lighter and radio are the same....map light might be conencted to it too...where the shifter is...mine wasn't working before be i took it out and all the suddent it started to work....so thats not connected.

This reminds me of the time my Heater Relay went out on me during the winter ice storms of 00'. Now that really really sucked.

Have you tried using a continuity checker to make sure that the fuse is not out? You generally can tell by looking, but sometimes the breaks are small and you can't see it so well with just the eye. There's some other trouble shooting ideas I could give but wouldn't want you to short out anything else with your car. My next thing to tell you is look at the electrical schematics to troubleshoot your problem. You can find them in the haynes and chilton manuals. sometimes they have them at your local libary so you can look through for free instead of paying 15 bucks for them. Oh the joys of electrical problems.
