EGR on backorder?
Has anyone heard that there is a national backorder on EGR valves? My service manager is claiming that I may have to wait 2 months for a new EGR valve.
The car is idling around 400 rpms, shaking a bit while doing so.
Couldn't the EGR be cleaned???

thats all they did to my EGR valve when I had it fixed a while back, they just cleaned it out.
If your dealing with Northeast, talk to Mike in service... he's really helpful when I go there, everyone else there isnt all that friendly. BTW- Is that where the car is from?

Anyone know if this is justa '97 EGR valve recall? My '98 was having some issues starting - It'd shake a lot right when starting up, only if it'd been turned off in the past 15 mins (like starting up after running inside a store). The dealer said it could be my EGR valve (probably just them throwing parts at the car again instead of looking into what the problem is).

Yes, the car came from Northeast, and I was dealing with Mike. He also mentioned that I was not the only one waiting for one of these...
As for cleaning the EGR, they did do this 16K miles ago, but now want to replace it (didn't ask for specifics).
My concern is my Acura Preferred warranty expires in a few weeks, and I want to be sure to have the issue corrected by then. I realize that the EGR will be covered either way, but what if they mis-diagnosed the issue?
exxxcite: since they are the identical motor, could be you are having the same problem...
