Question ECU upgrades???

For anyone who may have some experience or knowledge in this area, what options do 1st gen CL's have in regards to the ECU.
I contacted ApexIntegration about a VAFC for the CL and they couldn't give me a yes/no answer about whether the VAFC or VAFC-II will work, simply because they have never tried. I know this would be the best way to work with my air/fuel ratios and v-tec, but I don't have 300.00 to buy one and find out it doesn't.
One thing I did find out from them is that the SOHC 4cyl Accords have something different about them that the VAFC I and II will not work properly with them. Since the 1st gen CL's chassis and engine are so Accord-y, there is a likelihood that the ECU is the same as well and, therefore, would not work.
If this is true, or if anyone knows of any better and/or cheaper ways (aside from the ebay resistors) to upgrade the fuel curves on the CL, I'm dying to know. I don't necessarily HAVE to have the ability to play with the curves, but I do want a different set-up.
Of course, I'd like to re-install my testpipe, which would work better if I were able to fine-tune the ECU.
Let me know, please.

I didn't specifically state it, but the CL is the 2.3ltr SOHC 4cyl, not the 3.0ltr 6cyl.
I think that was obvious when I compared it to the "SOHC 4cyl Accord", but, just in case.

yes

yes the vfac will work, same engine as accord same vtec as prelude, they cant see pass what the book tells them, they told me the same. just make sure you get a shop to install and tune it. sure its fun changeing the vtec but if you dont match your fuel for that change you will run lean and thats a no no. as for ecu when i had a f22 i sent my ecu to jet and they rechip it and program it for a 65 shot for my zex. it cost about 200. but if your smart get a hondata and get it tune and retune as your need for power grows. good luck!!!

you can use hondata but you have to use an OBDI IACV and have it rewired.
