only differance between a vafc and safc is that you can change your vtec point... on a SOHC vtec isnt noticable anyways... i already had the safc2 from my other car that got wrecked in march so im just gonna use that when i turbo it.

ah good call. I take it you have a 2.x? You can always get a wiring diagram for the honda accord model with that engine/tranny setup for comparison I think.

yeah. You have to pull the carpet up and take out the 4 10mm bolts that hold the ecu bracket in. I think they are 10mm, might be 12. I never put them back in because my p28 mounts a completely different way.

ok i dont think thats the icu cause if you look at this pinout page it doesnt match the passenger kickboard thing

http://www.plxdevices.com/ECUDatabas..._CIV_98_02.pdf

its supposed to have 4 connectors but that kickboard one only has 2 connectors

there are somtimes two modules down there. one controlls the auto tranny and the other is the ecu for the engine. have a closer look at it and make sure. it should be on the left side. (closest to the console) since your car is a manual i really dont know what to tell you. but i cant see it being located anywhere else....
