This is a repost. It sounds like a neat idea, looks like it would be a pain in the ass to install though. Wonder if it works.

i read about that in an article in super street or something. i think it'll work; but not being as significant as a turbo inside the engine bay, because of the loss of pressure in exhaust flow traveling down the exhast piping spinning the turbine of the turbo.

i know that you are knowledable in the turbo field. what numbers do you think this turbo setup would put out. it says less than 4g's for it at that site. would you think it would be worth it.

btw, how is your setup going along

Just build your own. Bumnah at H-A.net and many others just used junkyard turbo's and built it themselves. The only thing they needed to get was a turbo exhaust manifold, or whatever it's called.

scalbert responded to a thread about this product.. something about length of piping and small turbo size, plus lag make this not a very wise choice.

And 4g's is waaaay too much. For that you could do a swap and turbo.

im far from knowledgeable in motor works. however i do know a few things based from my own knowledge and experiences.

it's hard to tell how much power the sts turbo system will put out, simply because its a fairly new product that came out of the market and its basically availible for a few domestic cars/trucks. not untill they produce the kit for the integra/civic, we cant realistically estimate a comparison for our cars. the major benifits of this setup is the fact that you dont need an aftermarket/custom manifold to run this turbo; and also the turbo will operate significantly cooler than a turbo mounted onto the exhaust manifold. you will still need appropriate fuel and ignition tuning. in all honesty, i think the sts turbo system is the answer for 3.0's because of the fact that it doesnt use a portion of engine bay space as it already is crowded in the first place. for the price that they're asking, its kind of expensive though, for what they offer. because you are only getting a turbo; a wastegate; custom piping for the specified vehicle; and necessary fittings. the kit doesnt include necessary fuel supply and management, which is basically all you need to complete the turbo kit. it would be cheaper to purchase all the parts seperately and have a shop custom fab the piping needed. i think itll be a waste of time for a 2.x to get that kit because they already have a turbo kit out on the market and is pretty much bolt on. someone should seriously try this out.

the sts turbo system looks like it uses a t28 turbo. even if the sts system used a t3 or t4 turbo, do you know how much exhaust pressure itll take to spool the turbine? Keep in mind the the exhaust pressure goes down the exhaust manifold to the downpipe, and through the exhaust piping. the t28 is so small that it can easily spool at 2-2.5k, meaning no lag what so ever. the theory behind the sts turbo system is valid, but i think it wont be as significant as a turbo mounted onto an exhaust manifold.
