Dynostorm blackberry app
So I am sure some of you have iPhones and have heard of the dynolicious app that uses the accelerometers in the phone and gps etc to estimate hp and provide 1/4 mile times. I was pleased to discover that they make the same app for the Storm1 / 2 and I just got a storm2. So I picked it up and had a go.
Took it for a run in the CL after I fixed my timing belt tensioners and this is what I got:
60' 2.45
330' 6.64
1/8mi 10.02@67.2 mph
1000' 12.75
1/4mi 14.95@102.5 mph
Not bad I would say. There is not a reaction time on this since it is "instant". As soon as the phone sees .14G's of accel, it kicks in. Got a nice smooth launch too. It also estimated my wheel HP at 195 which seems a bit much. It's a 97 2.2 with just a short ram, test pipe, apexi WS2, and F2 coils. Was about 50 degrees. I put in my weight as 3300 lb. It also generates a nice little graph as well. Can see all the gearchanges in it, kinda neat. This was on a flat road. Makes me want to go to a real track to see how it compares.

well that does not seem right, 195whp with just that? Im pretty sure thats wrong, more like 115 whp or something, you would need to need to have some internal work done on that engine to be 195whp.

now I want to try this since I've actually been to a track and know my 1/4 mile. These figures seems a bit too good to be true. My 3.0 had a best run of 15.9 at the strip.

Atleast on my g1 you have to make sure its calibrated at exactly 0,0 0,0. And that the phone is perfedtly secure. If you don't and let the phone move freely or be off calibration you get bhp of 1000+ like I got on the way to school lol

Hah, so there is a calibration that I did not see. When I have more time I will mess with it. But I do know I was over 100 when the test finished with a beep, so. It might have just been slow to engage or something... that was only the second time I had gotten to use it. I tried it on the S10 pickup we have and that ran a 16 and I backed off at the end because 100 in that thing is just a little too fast for it.

nice! I don't even give shit. Also I was not embarrassed at the strip, I was very far from the bottom, that being a Honda Fit which ran a 20 and change. Went with my friends with an M3 and a SC 350z
My point was merely that I doubt those things are correct. I really need to get my brother in law over with his fancy Droid phone so I can see what the deal is. My car might be slightly faster now, but not much.
