Door Handle is broken

Wassup Fellas

Its about that time

Well I can't open the door to get out of the car WITHOUT rolling down the window and opening the car from outside.

So what can I do? My mechanic said to buy a new handle set. Said it it easy to fix.

Anyone have experience this?

Yeah, just take off the door panel and check to make sure all of the rods are still connected.
It is possible that a plastic retaining clip (bracket) that holds the rod in place may have worn out and broke off. It's an easy fix. The only reason you need to buy a new handle is if you actually broke the handle itself...

You don't remove the door panel, only the interior door handle assy.

Remove screw in door hande assy, pull door handle assy forward and out slightly. The rod connecting the door handle to door latch should be retained to the door handle assy w/ a plastic clip that snaps in place on the rod. Push the safety off and the rod end will lift out of the door handle assy. there is an electrical connector to door lock switch to release. Install new door handle assy (for repair see below) in reverse order.

In my experience w/ Accords (same door handle assy), the door handle assys crack through the door handle trim plastic. It is possible to repair the crack w/ JB weld epoxy and ripstop nylon reinforcement on the back side of the piece. I used airplane glue to hold the pieces in alignment while I reinforced the back side w/ epoxy and nylon ripstock layers to strengthen the crackline. Repair on a 90 Accord I had lasted several years till I sold the car.

good luck
