Difference between 97 & 99 3.0CL
I was browsing through an internet site that had all of the times of different cars (I had to, because a friend of mine with a 3.5L Intrepid was saying how he could destroy my measly 3.0L engine, so I just had to find some stats to show him) and I noticed something odd.... on the 1/4 MILE and 0-60 times, the 1999 is MUCH faster than the 1997. Is that possible? What's up with that? What are the OFFICIAL 1/4 mile and 0-60 times for a stock 1997 3.0CL?

The 97 could have been a brand new car, which would make it slower as would different weather, altitude, temp, track, driver, launch style.
The cars have the same engine, and are with in a few pounds of each other, so i dont think that was it.

The first thing that I noticed is that the times are taken from 2 different magazines.
I have never put much creedence in the trade mags. Their times can widely range (even when the same person is driving the car multiple times).
Keep in mind that his Intrepid is heavier. Here's some stats:
1997 3.0CL--200 HP; 195 ft-lbs Torque; 3219 lbs.
1997 Intrepid 3.5 ES--214 HP; 221 ft-lbs Torque; 3519 lbs.
I think it's a good race (especially with a mod or 2)!

not to mention - what would you rather be in??
A 4-door Intrepid (a rental car favorite)....
Or a slick 2-door CL?
Hmmmmm, I know which one I'd rather tell people I'm driving!

Hehehe, definately a CL, that's for sure... But the guy was bragging so much about his engine being bigger and more powerful than mine that I had to check out some stats to put him back on earth. I'll have to race him though when the weather permits it (don't enjoy racing on snow, unless I have a 4x4).
