Cyclone Blue almost drowned tonight... ;(

I was on my way to dinner, and after thinking I'd avoided all the huge puddles of water that our shitty, underdeveloped Hialeah roads develop after a massive rainstorm like the one that just occured, I was suprised to be presented with just one more (the big one); blocking the on-ramp to the highway.

I knew this one was going to be too much, but I had no other choice; there was a line of cars behind me. So I tried to drive her through, but my biggest fears came true when I began to see the RPMS start falling below 1500....1000....500... and then nothing.

Luckily, the car hadnt sucked up too much water and I was able to start her again after my father and I moved her to the side of the road.

First time I've ever experienced something like this. Scared the shit out of me. Needless to say, I'll be purchasing a bypass valve very sooon...

holy crap! you live in Miami and you dont have a bypass!?! Shit, I live in Kansas and sometime very rare (like once a month) we get a bad storm w/ lots of water. If i lived in miami, I would of definitly gotten a bypass valve at the start! wow, glad everythings ok. Be Careful!

I actually live in Miami Springs (have since 92), but I can fart and they can smell it in Hialeah (thats how close I am.)

Agua, fan y factoria (and shitty fucking retarded roads)

PS: Also doesnt help much that Im dropped on Sportlines and KYB's (equivalent of Klepto's/R0dxx's drop for example.) water came up to about 3 inches above my ankles in the deepest spots.

Im thinking... instead of buying the bypass for my CAI, perhaps I should invest in a v2.

I dont think I'd have to worry about flooding my engine ever again if I went with that (unless I drove the front end into a lake). Plus, I'd gain just a little more (not much, but just a little more) power too.

Suggestions? Opinions?

About 2 years ago, I had the AEM CAI, and it was hurricane season and you know me I got a little worried...I bought the bypass valve off some shop around here for 40.00 bucks or something, biggest piece of shit ever. I guess it serves its purpose, but CAI seemed less effective, and didn't sound as good as without it. I then ordered a AEM SRI, and I love it

is your CAI one piece or 2 piece? if it's 2 piece, just convert it to a short ram for the rainy season

little is an understatement

the bypass valve basically takes away any hp gain you got. so better off w/o it

Im pretty sure its a one piece... but I want to know if I should just go ahead and invest in a V2.

I heard that a SRI in somewhere as hot as Miami is pretty ineffective power wise because of how hot it gets here. Would the V2s gains be noticible after making the jump from a CAI?

I simply shortened the pipe. No worries any more. Granted I'm not getting the coldest air possible, but I don't care. It sure beats worrying like I did at first.

that I managed to NOT lock the engine ANYWHERE ELSE in hialeah is a testament to my 1337 driving sk1llz.

ask ANYONE who's been in Hialeah how bad some of those places can get... flooding everywhere.

SRI, V2, CAI whatever

There all just noise makers...None of them really make any difference, the biggest difference is the filter. ebay pipe with k&n

Just leave it in and don't drive through puddles. If you do, push in the clutch as fast as you can. Then drive through slowly. There's not much suction when you drive with light throttle.

Lower the throttle, it won't suck as hard. I don't know that the V2 offers much more protection, other than being shorter

in that kinda situation.. pop the hood real quick.. and pull the intake piping off the throttle body.. and go through the big puddle.. then re-assemble.. people will honk and cuss at u.. but.. its better then hydrolocking.. haha

glad nothing bad happened to your ride
