clutch questions
I have a '97 CL 2.2 5 sp. with 69000 miles. I have recently noticed that first gear can sometimes me hard to get into gear unless I let up on the clutch a bit. What should I be concerned about and what should I check to try to alleviate this nuisance? Thanks in advance for all replies.

I have that too but only really rarely... I pop it into reverse then it goes right into first... don't know why but someone told me this helps on some other car, toyota??? so figured it would help out in this situation. If it is happening quite often don't know maybe the engagement point is off?? (no clue really)

My Acura service tech told me this is a common problem with Hondas/Acuras since first gear & reverse do not have synchros. He did tell me to check to be sure the clutch master cylinder is not leaking - it is under the dash above the clutch pedal. He said if it si leaking I would see fluid on the carpet. If that needs changing then go ahead & change the slave cylinder also.

If your having this problem just rev your car just a bit when the clutch is in then as you let off the clutch push the stick into gear. Works like a charm! Its kinda like double-clutching (i.e. how you drive manuals if there are no synchros).
