clutch master or slave cylinder problem

I'm having clutch problems again. I got in yesterday morning and had no pressure on the clutch pedal. About 3 years ago i had the same problem and had to have my clutch master cylinder replaced. i have no pressure, the resevoir was low and i can chaqnge gears with the car off. When i added fluid to the reservoir and pumped the pedal a bunch of times i was able to get moving.

Is this the master cylinder again or could it be the slave?

Thanx

wait you "can" or you "cant" shift with the car off. because most cars can shift gears with the car off. with my car when i press the clutch and shift gears with the car off, the gears dont fully engage. and even sometimes when my car is on and im driving the car doesnt always engage into first, but when i let off the clutch its fully engaged.

it most likely would be the slave cylinder considering you had your master cylinder replaced.

its your slave cylinder. Check to see if there is any fluid around the rubber boot. If there is, then all the more reason to replace it. I bought mine for around 30 dollars shipped off ebay ( oem part too ) and too me 30 mins to install and bleed.

rule of cylinders

always replace both at the same time because the other one is prone to go out very soon after.....had that problem when i had my eclipse...master went out so i replaced both, no problems afterwards

true for the most part, but not always the case. My slave went out at 80k. My master was checked out and in perfect condition. The slave cyclinder dies faster than the master anyways.
