Hi,
I have a 99 2.3CL automatic. Something stange that i noticed today and i dont know what to do about it. Well as you know you cannot shift the car out of park without depressing the brake. When i do this i hear a click when i depress the brake as well as a click when i let go of the brake. If i were to sit there and press the brake over and over again while it was in park i would keep hearing this click. Once i shift in into any other gear including neutral i can depress the brake to my heart content with no noise. I never noticed this noise before. It is not affecting the operation of the car at all but i do not want to damage anything. Anyone have any ideas on this. Please reply with any thoughts. I know it must have something to do with the lock in the shifter because the noise is coming from directly under the console where the shift stick is. Should i just ignore this?? What is it?? I know how to fix my Vette but my CL is new to me and i don't feel like getting raped at the dealer. Please reply with any info.

It's just the lock being unlocked! Nothing to worry about. The sound shouldn't be that loud but somewhat noticable. I wouldn't worry about it though.

Why was it silent before. Can you hear this noise on any of your cars. I know mine was silent before. I'm a little ticked off. I already have my vette for my unreliable car. I hope this isnt the sign of something needing fixing. Anyone else have this noise???
