However the advise to not "over oil" and let it sit awhile still stands

I need to clean mine out, its been like over 6 months, (I feel bad for ignoring it for so long). I don't really have 12 hours to let it dry because I have to do the work at a friends because my apt complex doesn't allow you to work on your car. Can you just compressed air the thing ?

My apt complex has the same policy (but I work on it in the parking lot anyway, just out of the way), but I'm sure removing the intake won't be an issue.
I mean, you'd be out there for like 2 minutes, and then 2 minutes putting it back on later.
I wouldn't use compressed air.. I'd be afraid of blowing right through the filter, or pushing a small rock or something right through.
Just come home, remove it, wash and oil it, let it dry over night, and put it back on in the morning.

Alright I might do that, Its a little more involved but if I do it right it will take about 5 mins to get off, and another five to get on. Its a cold air intake so I have to remove the fender wall. Thanks for the help

i have a cai as well.
i just pull the flap off from underneath the front bumper light. after you've loosened the filter from the piping, you can just slide it right out from there.
i found that it's a lot easier and faster than removing the fender wall
