CL 1, Deer 0
So i hit a deer last night going about 40. The bumper, hood and fenders are toast.
Should I upgrade to a carbon fiber hood on a red 97, or just take the stock one? Is it possible to have the CF hood painted? Any other upgrades that would work well now? May be the WW lip.

fawkin deer...they suck and they're stupid. I had one slam into the side of my old car after I stopped to let it go by...but glad you didn't get hurt. I wouldn't paint the CF hood either.

That really sucks dude! I live up in the mountains and i'm allways scared of that kinda shit too. I almost hit a donkey on my way to the river a year ago. Of course it startles the fuck out of you when you hit something that big too! Get a CF hood and tint it the color of your car. Then it will match your ride and have the CF look.

in the midwest everyone will hit a deer its only a matter of time. I want to get it painted because i dont really want the racer look at all, now the transparent red would be perfect if they could get the color to look good.
So i just got an estimate, 3400 bucks.

you better hope that damn deer is dead. god, they piss me off....they come into the middle of the road, hit you at like 70, and walk away.
just had to vent after a cat clawed up my hood. if that cat had a car, it would be sitting on four flat tires.

one last bit to add.
When i was getting an estimate the tech opened the hood and instantly asked me when i got into an accident. I told him it was 5k in hail damage from 2 years ago. Anyway he started asking probing questions into where the work was done, did they do a good job and what not. Long story short, my hood was missing all of the stickers that federal code requires, emissions, AC, and some tracking number that is required to prove that the part isnt stolen. So i hope i wasnt driving with a stolen hood for the last 2 years.

Damn!
Sorry to hear about the accident!
Personally, I think a black CF hook would look great on a red CL!
If you're thinking of painting a CF hood red, I would suggest just getting the OEM hood.

How much does the CF hood weigh compared to the stock hood? The only reason I would get a CF hood would be to save weight - and I would paint that bish white to match too. I think CF hoods are aight, but mixing colors looks ghey if you ask me. :ghey: People would think you just are a redneck piecing together a car. I see it all the time - red cars w/ green hoods, blue cars w/ black doors, etc.
