Check Engine Light - Transmission Fluid temperature.
i tried to run a search but it didnt come up with anything..
maybe someone else has had this problem
Yesterday i drove home from work ,, about an hour ... it was 26*C / 80F out.. no problems.. but it was stop and go traffic.. got home.. took the car out to pick up some food.. got home 10mins later.. ate dinner... 20mins later got in the car again and the check engine light came on as soon as i turned on the car.. checked fluids & gas cap..all fine... left it over night
took to the mechanic who read the code... says the code indicates that the transmission fluid got too hot and caused the light to come on..
He said its been hot lately and its happened to a few people recently..
He said to come back if it comes on again and he'll replace the fluid with a better synthetic fluid..
I was thinking.. would it be a good idea to maybe install an external tranny oil cooler if this happens again? I wasnt baggin on the tranny that day at all.. so i dunno.. its weird
My friend who is also a mechanic said it might be something wrong in the tranny causing the temp to increase..
Anyone experienced anything like this?

In all my tranny experience, I must say no, that has never happened to me...surprisingly so. I guess I would get a tranny flush and see what happened. There might be a blockage somewhere along the way that heats up if it isn't doing anything for an extended period of time.

I would definitely drain and fill the tranny and look for shavings in the fluid to see if the gears are getting chewed up. Also invest in a transmission oil cooler from hayden, they're about 40 bucks, and the best investment you can make in a 3.0 tranny
