OK My annoying my mom makes me fill up 3 (5 gallon) tanks at the gas station before the hurricane for the generator even though the power didn't go out or wasn't even close to I filed up the tanks and put them in my trunk and when I put them in they started to leak out like crazy i dont kno why i guess i filled them up too high and there was too much pressure soo i took some out and put them back in but i guess a considerable amount of gas leaked in the trunk carpet. Now my whole damn car smells like a gas station its really strong smell. I tried leaving the windows open all day and spraying lysol but the smell is still there today! I think its giving me a headache also when im driving...Anyone got any ideas of what i can do?

Edit: if its warm out, it should evaporate pretty quickly.

find someone that has a good ionizer and run it in the car with the doors shut for about 2-3 hour. car will smell like brand new.

well first off . dont smoke in the car . thats obvious, i would try to take the carpet out and pressure wash it . my friends 5.0 was FULL of mold as if it had been under water for a couple of weeks. and we gutted it and pulled out all the carpet and pressure washed it . now it looks and smells like new ... and thats all i can offer

Lucky you didnt loose power. Im still gassing up the generator at my moms, amazing how quick 16 gallons of gas goes.
