Car Shutters during acceleration

Hello I have a 99 2.3 with 140K. I have been noticing that the car shutters when accelerating. Very noticable on the freeway when applying gas to speed up and pass someone. I can only feel this shutter during accelerationga and not while coasting with my foot off of the pedal.

I replaced the plugs and wires and no change. I asked used injector cleaner and that had to change to the problem.

Any suggestions on what this might be? Fuel Filter? Injectors? EGR?

Thanks!!!

One thing to add is I do not have a CEL for this problem

a stutter could be allot of things to fuel filter to bad valve adjustment. There is no definite answer to this question. Could also be something as simple as a crack in distributor cap (I chased one of these around for about 4 months one time)

Have a buddy listen if it backfires. Usually means lack of air entering or exiting the head. Could also be electrical. Should be obvious. I would seafoam first then look elsewhere.

mine does the same. i had a cracked dizzy cap which i thought would solve the problem. now im gonna try and replace the fuel filter and hopefully that would solve it. if not...uhhh...well im still hoping its a fuel filter lol.

my dad's 95 honda accord (basically same engine) had the same problem, it was the EGR valve and carbon deposits filled up the ports. That's where i would start before i started toying with the idea of an ignition problem
