car does not move on reverse...

car does not move on reverse...
when I shift to reverse while the car is idling , doesn't move at all til I tap the gas pedal...sometimes it even rolls forward a bit. Is this normal for the 2.3cl auto?

This problem is common for 5 spd. 2.X's. There manual trannys suck. 
I've never heard of an auto tranny from a CL give problems.
If you want a REAL TRANSMISSION....get a 3.0 4 spd. auto transmission.
