Cap not working?

Hey everyone, I just put in a 1 farad cap yesterday and my RPM's still drop. Does anyone know whats causing this? or is this just normal, the rpms only drop when i really turn it up. How long was I supposed to charge the cap for? I only did it for about 1.5-2 min. Is there any way to check if my cap is charged fully or not? Thanks

your alternator is most likely going bad. Take it into Acura to have them check it out. As for the cap, I think I only charged mine for 15 seconds...you might want to double check your instructions on the cap.

i think dustbuster found a 180 amp alternator for his system. however, i wouldn't go buy underdrive pulleys anytime soon. that'll kill your system and also probably kill your old alternator even more

at idle ur alt isn't makin that much power and if u dotn have a good batt ur usin it all for ur system and that might be causin a lack of power to ur car's elcectrical system causing it to stall, but if thats the case i dont see how u havent found urself with a dead battery yet. stop blasting it at idle. u should have done a dual batt setup off an optima yellow top and screw the capacitor. unless ur going for speed in the cl. if i was u i would buy an optima yellow or blue top for ur car. then go from there.

It could also be that the cap isn't strong enough for the total watts the amp is trying to put out. I was never a fan of the 1 farad cap...I think overkill is better when it comes to caps, at least that way you know you'll always have enough power on tap.

well, that all depends on how much power he's running though.
Klepto - how many watts are you running RMS with thoseMTX and JBL amps? Peak?

Haha, I DID spend alotta money on my system, but its all good, it sounds soo nice. But i just dont wanna kill my battery...I guess i'll look into an optima yellow top, whats the difference between the yellow and blue top anyways?

The MTX runs my fronts and rears, its about 60rms, with the JBL i have 300rms running to each sub, I dunno about peak and I'm sure that each sub is getting more than 300rms and the amps are underrated
