cant decide on tint or not.........
well, i cant decide if i want to tint my CL or not. I live in NC, so it gets fairly hot in the summer time, but i also do a lot of night time driving and im worried that it will interfear with my visibility.
Anyone that has a Red CL with tint if you could post pics that would be nice.
And anybody that has tint on their car, does it interfear with the rear defogger? or the internal radio antenna in the back window? and what is done with that "dot matrix" at the top of the rear window?
I kno its a lot of questions, but i wanna really think this thru before i do it.
THANKS!!

Tint that motha... Tint, if it is done right, does not interfere with visability. OK, On a black pitch night, with rain, backing up, you may have to use your mirrors a little more, but for normal driving it's awsome, especially when your going north at sunset. side sun kills unless you got tint. I love mine, but the Mistress isn't red. Anyway, it has the bennifit of shading you interior... Note, the car will still get hot, but the UV shit will stay out.
Much more confortable ride without all that sun.
Just my opinion.

you can take something harder than a business card and squeeze some of the air that will be trapped between the bubbles.
Only downside to tint is that it tends to make the window motor go out faster

IMO tint looks good on all color cars with shiny alluminum wheels. As for the dot matrix, some tint shops paint that area. That's what I had done and it looks awesome from the outside, but on the inside I had to get used to it cause it's not transparent at all. Some put a vinyl strip on it.

Hell yeah tint it!
I just added 20% tints to my black CL. Interior is also black so the tint looks really ddark from the outside, so I'm crossing my fingers hoping the pigs dont stop me. In Chicago, they can be assholes. The tint is dark, but you can still see the person sitting inside, but just barely. As for visibility, I have no problems at night even on dark streets. It just seems slightly darker. And there is no type of radio intereference. Now the dot matrix situation. The custom joint that did mine ended the tint exactly where the matrix started, so I have no bubbles. Its a tad lighter than the tints on the top of my rearview, but it is not noticable unless you;re pretty anal. In which I am, but I can live with it.

Tint is good. Go for the tint.
HI-Jacking real quick, but staying pertinent to the subject?
What's a good price to do all 6 windows?
And I know in most states it's totally illegal to have ANYTHING on your front windshield. Is there a percentage I could do on the front windshield to protect my dash, and keep all the UV crap from coming in through the front window? YET. Not be detectable by the cops?

I got mine tinted right after I bought it in '97 and would highly recommend it. Just be sure to check it over. I had some air bubbles trapped around the dots in the back window and took it back to the tint shop to have them smooth it out. Each state has its own law for allowable tint %, so I'd make sure you don't go above that unless you want to be hassled by the po-po.

so i went over to lighting mikes today (thats the local tint shop here) and turns out one of the workers has a first gen CL. He said the tint looks real nice on these cars except for that matrix thingy, So i asked a few questions about it and he walked me over to his CL (which btw, was very clean lookin except for a big dent in the passanger door) but it had little bubbles all around the matrix area. He said the only other option is to put a solid black piece up there.
I was quoted $180 for 35% tint with a lifetime warranty aginst fading and bubbling. He said with that warranty i could bring my car back as many times as i want to with any problems with the matrix, but it will more then likely end up bubbling every time just because of the way its made.
what do you guys think?
