Can someone explain this to me?

Today I went to buy some brake pads... I figured I'd stay with Honda/Acura brake pads for the moment, didn't want to try out some other ones, I'm satisfied with the quality.

Anyways, called up my Acura dealer to ask them for prices on brake pads for my 3.0CL, and then I thought of something... maybe Accord V6 brake pads will fit on my 3.0CL, so I drive to Honda, and ask them to verify if the Honda part numbers are the same as the Acura part numbers. And yes, they were. So I basically saved something like $60 by buying Honda brake pads which are basically the EXACT same thing as the Acura brake pads. Now all I want to know is... WHY DOES ACURA DO THAT???

All the OEM parts I have gotten were that way. The Acura dealer is 40 miles away, so I call them get the Honda part number and drive to the Honda dealer in town to pick them up.

The Honda dealer here has no way to cross reference to Acura parts, but the Acura place never hesitates to give the Honda part number. I usually call from work so I dont have to pay for the call either.:P

Either way you're going to get screwed. Might as well be for less.

simple "ACURA" is the word...lol.....I've tried to get some parts for mine and when I mention Acura...parts are higher in price or they just don't have it....but when I say "How about 1997 Honda accord" the price is usually lower and they have it....lol same happens with Lexus and Toyota....
