I just completed my 1st mod- an AEM cold air intake. Because i was short on time, I didn't install the by-pass vavle. From what I've read, it seems everyone puts them in only as an "insurance" and that they aren't really necessary unless you drive through a 2 ft deep puddle. Does anyone have any instances in which the by-pass vavle actually saved them?
Also, on the 3.0, the upper attachment arm doesn't really line up with the existing holes. The bottom one is connected fine (after some wire casing was unattached). Is it worth it to drill to hook this in? It doesn't seem like it's going to move....

Ive got a 97 3.0 and mine hooked up fine. The upper attachment fit fine, ( i did that first, and then where the upper piping and lower meet, i but in the bypass valve. . .as far as the wire casting and drilling your talking about, i didnt do that so i donno what your talkin about...mines connected to the engine block, then thw upper and lower connected by the bybass and then i attached a peice of metal drilled into the side fender for support (came with my kit) and then theres the lower part and the cone. Mine worked out fine. But i would "support" yours somehow by the connection of the upper and lower pipe.
