CAI and Rain Storm

I weathered my first rainstorm this evening with my newly installed CAI. Had visions of this gigantic puddle jumping in front of me, and my engine sucking up 12 gallons of water! As it turned out, the trip was uneventful!

I know this subject has been discussed "ad nauseum", and I've given a comment or two, but it's different now that MY CL is of concern!

I have to admit that I thought about picking up the AEM By-Pass valve while driving home tonight, but that thought passed as soon as I arrived home safely. Oh well!

I really like the added power that my CAI gives, and the sound is incredible!

Definitely get a CAI (if you haven't already gotten one)!

I had a similar experience and the valve saved my car... i heard it whistling after i hit the puddle....

do not forget thta the undercarriage still protects the filter from getting wet.. the plastic has three slits facing the rear that stops debree and water etc from entering that area.... but it also hampers the air flow. I have cut mine out... it allows for more air in and unfortunately more water!

Hold up on the AEM BYPASS VALVES!~ I just visited my honda dealer and AEM will no longer sell them any bypass valves. Why? Simply because they DO not work. At first I questioned it too but I called AEM to place an order and they told me the same thing. Ordering it from online companies they will probably still sell it too you though. But hey Maybe I just got false information! Just thought i should warn you.
I myself was debating on that issue because up here in South Bend Indiana we get a ton of snow/rain... so i was opting towards a short ram intake. Then I realized the only chance water or snow would get sucked up is if my front fender is buried in it. So I opted towards the more HP BABY!

hmmm.. i beg to differ! Mine worked! I hit a large puddle during a rainstorm.. turential down pour and water went straiint into my vent opening (cut out area by the filter) and I heard a whistling sound.. i stopped under a bridge, popped my hood to see what was up... the valve was sucking and my filter was dripping wet... I was on for just under 2 days! I say screw that.,... it saved me once no matter what anyone says!

Did you have a short ram before you got the CAI?

Hey Dustbuster, how would you compare the CAI sound to the Short ram sound?
Why would they be different?
