Thats one long sentence.
The 97 2.2 has two bolts on either side of the radiator that hold the bumper on. Remove the screws in the wheel wells that hold the back of the bumper to the car. There are two screws underneath the car that hold the bumper to the plastic underbody, remove those. Loosed the four bolts that I mentioned earlier (I take out the bumper lights to gain access) and raise the bumper up and forward. The bracket on the bumper slide over these four bolts once theyre loose (but you can totally remove them too...maybe easier). Its kind of tricky getting the slots on the bumper to clear the heads of the bolts but this should help.
As stupid as this is going to sound....this is how I get to my AEM filter. Found its easier to do this than to risk breaking all the little plastic deals that hold in the wheel well plastic.
