Brake light coming on
I have a 97 Acura CL 3.0. It was fine, I haven't drove it for a little while, when I released the parking brake I noticed that it stayed lit but faintly. Later as I was driving to get some brake fluid (I thought I may need some since I have recently replaced the rear calipers) the ABS light came on. I bought some brake fluid, but when I opened the master cylinder it wasn't really that low. I filled it up a little. This did not make the light go off. Any ideas as to what would cause this? Thanks in advanced for any help you guys can offer.....

does it stay on when you brake, or does it go away? I had a similar problem when the weather got colder a few weeks back, but after the car warmed up it went away. I dunno what the problem was, but it hasn;'t happened since.

it is a faulty sensor, i talked to some people at ACURA and they told me that a relay swicth had to be replaced and that ALL FIRST GENS HAVE THIS PROBLEM,, it is especially apparent when it is cold outside or when first starting your car for the day, so dont worry it wont affect your brakes, but u can get the sensor replaced for between $60-80 and FYI- EXTENDED WARRANTIES do not cover it

try adding more fluid i know u said u added some already but our sensors are very sensitive. add anough to bring it to just over the full mark. if u over fill it its ok cause u can just take a rag and dabb some out. i really think thats ur prob.

could be air in the lines.. that happened w/ my old acura (89 legend) and i just took it in to get the lines bled and new fluid added (which is recommended maintenance anyway). shouldn't cost too much either.

Same thing has happened and is happening to my '98 2.3 - in the winter it would come on and go off at will. Now that summer's here, it only comes on in the morning after sitting all night. I can drive into town (12 mi.) and it will go out - not to return till the next morning. Just had my rear brakes replaced - calipers, rotors and pads and it didn't make any difference. Don't think it affects my braking... it just annoying. Someday I'll get around to having it fixed.
