Black Housing Clear Corners
ok so i got an idea. well, ive been wanting to do black housing headlights for quite a while now, but am afraid that once they are done, my clear corners wont match the front of the car anymore cuz theyll be really obvious. (car is black btw).
ok so what i wanted to do was open up my clear corners, using the baking method, and spray the top and bottom black, while leaving the back reflector (the round part in the back that actually reflects the light forward) the original chrome color. that way, they would match black housing headlights and i think they would look really nice.
however, after baking one of the corner lights (i had a spare to use), there was no way i could get it open. i tried raising the temperature in 10 degree increments up until i was at 300. at that point, the sealant was only very slightly priable, but the walls of the light itself had started to melt and cave in.
so do you guys think this black housing clear corner is a good idea? and if so, have any ideas on opening them up? im assuming all of our clear corners are probably made by the same company, so dont go trying to do what i did or youll just have a completely destroyed corner lamp. right now, my best idea is to just go at the sealant with a dremel.
if someone comes up with an idea that works, or my dremel doenst destroy another light, ill be sure to write-up a DIY for anyone interested.

You can't pry apart the clear corners--its been tried before. The best thing to do is to buy some spray tint or some tint film and do it from the outside if you want your corners darker.

if you get model window tint for model cars at the hobby stores, its only like5$ a can.. compared to nightshades at 15-25$ a can..
also if someone was good with a remmel tool they could just cut the lense off and use an abs plastic welder called devcon it comes in the black tube at walmart and its only 2$ but it hardens in like 5 minutes and ive used it to weld fairings for a motorcycle back togather..i think im gonna try it.. if i fawk them up oh well.. its only 20$. do they even sell the lenses on ebay any more?
