A birthday present from HONDA CANADA
Yesterday morning, upon starting up my car (a 1997 3.0CL), I noticed something ODD. The D4 and CHECK ENGINE light were flashing. I waited about 30 seconds, and put it in REVERSE in order to leave my parking space... but something felt weird! Felt like I had no power and when I shifted from P to R there was a BIG clunk. Usually I hear a small clunk, and I thought it was normal, but this one was very loud.
Weird thing is I have about 55,000MILES on my car and have no mods, except for a short air intake, and I never race it. Are our transmissions built so weak that normal driving would kill it after 6 years?
I did notice a weird slipping in the past few days when taking off...
Anyways, brought it in to the dealer and it's being replaced under warranty... So I consider that a present, since I'll be driving with a brand spanking new transmission and considering the fact that my extended warranty ends in a few months.
Anyone else have to change their tranny? I'm thinking of getting some sort of tranny cooler in order to not have any problems in the future. Would that help?

I believe dustbuster4 has a tranny cooler installed. try inquiring with him about its results so far.

I went today to my Acura dealership and they told me that, indeed, my tranny is dead. They ordered one yesterday and it arrived today... It should be in by Monday-Tuesday at the latest. First thing I do when I get my car back is install a tranny cooler...
I'm not sure which one to get though, any suggestions?
