Biggest Annoyance with Your CL
Okay, in an effort to not have ALL the messages here about aftermarket mods, I'd like to know what one thing most annoys you about your CL. You know, that one little item that just drives you crazy!
I'll start--I love the automatic climate control system but I wish it would show interior and exterior temperature rather than just the temp you set it to. Yup, that's pretty small, but it would have been so easy!
What else have you got?

Slow windows, weak headlights, rattling back deck when bass is high.
Oops, not just one but I think that about covers it for me, I'm overall very pleased, I'll be even happier if i get to 170+k miles with no major problems...

The one thing that I hate is my Steering wheel radio controls. Don't get me wrong I love them, it's just they don't work when the steering wheel is turned to the left!!
I think Maui mentioned the lack of a 60/40 rear seat once. This bother's me sometimes also...

all of those are great complaints... power, windows, deck, lights and the temp control....
My biggest complaint bout CL would be interior design... although its classy.. its from the 94-97 Accord... otherwise I am happy...
just stupid things like that and also the fact that it took 3 years to get mods...lol

Good memory, Melo. Yes, I do wish that the car had a folding rear seat. Our salesman lied to us and told us that the CLs had one since the Accords that this car is based on has a folding rear seat. Anyhow, after we bought it and I went to go Christmas shopping, I found the truth out. Anyhow, I agree with the majority of the aforementioned complaints/gripes. However, one of the things I wished Honda would do is revise their front seat headrests. In addition to adjusting up and down, I wish it would also tilt forward and stuff much like European cars and the 1992 - '96 Toyota Camrys. That's pretty much it

Here's a couple of mine..
1. I hate how the lights dim. Pain in the ass!!
2. I so wish there were memory seats!!
3. How the stock alarm isn't really an alarm! I was hit once in a parking lot and was only about 20ft away! I would have known if the alarm would have gone off!

All the problems mentioned are very good ones, but my biggest problem with my 3.0 is that there is no body kits available. ANYWHERE!!! Another problem is that there isn't that many after market products designed for our cars.

Lowpost, welcome to the board. I agree with you on the turning radius. It's a lot larger than any car that I have driven.
Memory seats - TW112, this is one of the reasons that I wanted to get the new TL-S.
Headrests - I agree Maui. I like to drive while holding onto the headrests at times and I catch myself trying to move it forward.
I'm really starting the hate the squeaks and rattles that I have started to hear. It get's really annoying.
All in all, this car is great!

i really fuckin hate how the 97 cl got shit on the interior compared to the 98+ with all wood center and chrome around the shifter. other thing i really hate is the damn rear seat doesn't fold down. the stupid door doesn't really help most of the time. other then that i love my car lots.

1) The stupid resonator box and tube one the plastic intake pipe. Why did Honda engineers make the resonator suck hot air from the engine bay instead of cooler exterior air? Dumb.
2)4-lug wheel bolts instead of 5 like the newer Accord v-6 (aren't Acuras supposed to be a step up from Hondas?). Makes the car look cheaper since most cheap cars use 4-lug bolts instead of 5.
3) No Dual exhaust! We could have better performance with quiet sound if we had a true dual exhaust.
4) The fake wood. Rather have no wood than fake wood.
5) Recycled Accord interior. Except for the seats and the fake wood, it's pretty much the exact same thing as the earlier Accord.
6) No seat memory.
7) Shallow clearance for the rear 6x9s. If I wanted to take out the over-rated Bose system and sell it, not too many options there. And what's up with the stupid tweeter placement? Not only can you barely hear them, they just rot in the sun and it will be a pain to replace.
8)The very cheesy looking brake handle, it looks like an uncircumcised d*ck.
9) No folding rear seats. Even though they claim it's for structural rigidity, I'm pretty sure they could have had both without compromise.
10) No manual transmission for the V-6.
Even though it seems like I'm ragging on the car, there are plenty of good things too. Like the styling, engine, performance, and price I paid for the car at the time. But if Honda had paid attention to the somewhat minor, aforementioned details, they would have made an almost perfect car.

1) The temperature control doesn't say how hot/cold it is outside and inside... no thermostat; you only know you're getting close to your "target" temperature when the fans turn down.
2) The hesitation from 1st to 2nd in the 3.0.
3) The tendency for window motors to break (I just had my WHOLE window motor replaced; the old one is in my trunk).
4) The way the front end looks just like an Accord; there's nothing wrong with it, but I'd like something a little more unique.
Now, the things I LOVE about my car...
1) The seats are really comfortable; the leather is soft, the cushioning is thick; they're great seats.
2) The TAILLIGHTS ARE AWESOME!!! I love our ass.
3) The moonroof is designed such that rain can't really get in, and that's cool.
4) Great pickup (at least on the V6)... I love merging into traffic now!
5) Acura had good color choices with this car; I wouldn't say there's one bad color.
6) Beautiful, and I do mean BEAUTIFUL engine on the 3.0 That engine block is a work of art. I love it.
That's all I can think of now, but I'm sure there's more.

Dont really mind the non-folding rear seat....Made it much easier to build an amp rack---and the pass-thru is just enough to send some of the thump up front. My only complaint so far is the lack of aftermarket (other than the engine).....

I agree with some of the others...that annoying 1-2 shift delay drives me crazy!! I know the tranny is designed for 2nd gear take-offs for fuel economy but damn, i would trade a few mpg's for 1st gear take off's everytime!!

1st gen CL: subdued front-end,tasteful but tad outdated interior, often perceived as a Senior/Mature Female driven car. Other than that an excellent everyday vehicle overall!

1. Rattling rearview mirror and rear deck from bass, Fixed the deck thou. put screws in to it from inside the trunk.
2. No H22, you would think acura would want the best motor for the higher end cars not a reused accord mottor
3. Lack of temp inside & out
4. Cruise control varys speed
5. Lack of aftermarket products

Besides the rear deck rattle and the weak headlights, I had to have my transmission replaced at 115,000 miles, my driver-side window regulator and some electrical part on my ignition switch replaced at 119,000, my starter at 126,000 and I had to have my ECM computer replaced. This was on my '97 3.0CL I bought brand-new in May of '98.

I hate my cup holder. It is right behind the shifter, and my girlfriend always put the biggest freakin cup there while I'm driving.

Casper, you're the only other person in the world I've ever heard ADMIT that they smoke in their CL. Good for you! I've felt like a leper all these months...
I never use the ashtrays, so I don't know how good/bad they are. In fact, my ashtray up front is used to hold my lighters; it's the perfect place. I keep the box of jacks in that little box thing with the flap over it (I think it's supposed to hold CD's?) and the lighters and my cell phone in the ashtray; I'll take a picture sometime of the configuration.
But I agree with the cup holder problem... One time Brad had gotten one of those 64 oz (yes, 64 oz) sodas at Exxon, and put it in the cupholder, and sure enough, when I had to slam on my brakes and he wasn't paying attention to the cup, it went shooting forward into the passenger side floor. I had to get my carpet shampooed. It was awful, 64 oz of Dr. Pepper in a little pool on my passenger floor.
Oh yah, and the turning radius... it was bad before, now, with 18s... it's AWFUL.

You can also use the strap under the arm rest for your ciggarettes. I dont know what it's originally for but I use it to hold my ciggarette box. I think that it's for cassette tapes or something. I dunno. :o

Hmmm... since the day I got the car I never knew what the hell I could put in that little strapped indentation thingie under the center console armrest. Funny, to this day, I still have nothing in that place. Kinda neat how you smokers were able to find a use for that spot.
