You can always use extra braking power.

I care more about braking power than looks. Looks are a bonus though.

I used to not worry about brakes, but with this heavy ass car I've had too many close calls. Brakes are the most neglected parts when mod'ing.

Yeah I know that is why only the fronts are gonna get done for now, but that $500 is retail so I'm sure at a local shop I can get a better price. Plus what Moto said brakes are neglected when modding and plus they look hot too..

this heavy ass car is a pain to stop, I'm doin cross/slotted rotors, new pads, and ss brake lines, in order to stop this honkin piece of metal. Just wish my ABS light wouldn't keep coming on AGAIN

I'd take care of that ABS light. Would scare me to be driving like that. And check out this forum...

Find your way to the stop drop and roll section for brake info. They all say get blanks, so I got blanks.

for 1000$ for the whole set, youd better stop on a dime from 150.

What whole set? You don't get front and back, just front.

sorry but nothing but nothing on the list will help except for the new pads..and they'll only help slightly...i guess you can say you have cool looking brakes though....

its not just the pads helping to stop quicker, its a combination of things helping. rotors, pads, and i believe lines. if it was just pads helping to stop quicker infinity would have just put good pads on the g35, instead they installed the brembos on to help reduce the distance needed to stop.

If you think about it another way, like it could prevent an accident that could cost thousands, then it's a bargain. I don't have that kinda money either, so I'm going a different route. Prelude rotors and NSX calipers. Only costing me about $150 not including pads.

PS. You and chucks have like the same exact avatar.

as not to thread jack (and i do it alot), quick answer: once you lock up your tires you are not going to stop any faster

i believe the whole purpose and design for ABS is to stop the brakes from locking up like when u have brakes with no abs. the technology abs uses is when u hit the brakes there is a constant force applied to the rotors off and on. its kind of like a piston. when the engine is on it constantly goes up and down. the calipers do the same, they go in and out to slow the car faster and stop ur brakes from locking up.

threshold braking will stop your car faster than abs....abs just helps prevent you from going way over the tire threshold so you can still have some sort of manuevability (like dodging a car or something)...but you are already over the limit once abs comes on (depending how good the system is)

yes they can...it's a simply concept: no abs = threshold braking - constant clamping power at the tire's braking limit or abs = on and off braking past the tire's braking limit..and some prefer abs as a precaution considering they can burn through rubber straight to the cords on one lockup you can expect most to love having abs on while others don't..it's a driver's preference

abs will never stop a car faster than threshold braking..it was designed to do other things

You know an easy way to mod your brakes is to go with better brake fluids that can withstand higher temps. Like Dot 5 or 5.1

I have synthetic Dot 4 that is suppose to withstand higher temps than your usuall Dot 4's

Also, when it comes to pads, go with the "green stuff".

He's right guys...once your over your tires limit, you actually take longer to brake.
