im origionally from texas.. im alittle more north west of you (killeen 14 years) and i think every storm we ever got eather had a tornado, or hail with it. and we got hail here in tampa last year when we got pelted by all those hurricanes. and it never hails here normally.

I'm looking for tornadic potential and hail with these storms rolling into OKC on Sat... if there is enough convective shear. Texas might see more of this at the point of landfall.

I'm not so sure about the storage suggestion. Unless youre not in a flood plain like the rest of the houston area, i would recommend against it.

Hurricane Rita is currently a Cat 5 storm. She is expected to hit the Texas coast sometime between friday night and saturday morning and will probably be no smaller than a strong Cat 4. Once she reaches land she will naturally break apart, but her storms are to be expected in Oklahoma city, if not farther.

I'm in DFW, so i'm not too worried about any major weather, just some heavy thunderstorms, i doubt we're gonna get too much hail out of this one, mostly just strong winds.

ayougo, so I bet you are trapped like a rat... I saw people on the news running out of fuel on I-45 what a fucking drag, don't you guys have any state highways and rural routes that people can escape on? For instance, if I-35 or I-40 were fucked, I would jump on USHW77, USHW33, USHY66... I just can't imagine being stuck sitting on an interstate... wow, you better get that natress strapped down good.

eather way good luck with the storm.. and get plenty of ice now. or start freezing cups of ice in the freezer cause you will prolly lose power for a while.. we went 2 weeks here in tampa w/o power. and it sucked bad. no hot water, no stove, everything in the fridge that we couldnt fit into the cooler (with our home made ice blocks from cups) went bad. get a generator, or atleast one of those car adapters which is what we had and we used that to watch tv. but be warned that thing if your car isnt runnin will kill your battery within 1 hour. get plenty of water now, cause the stores will be out of shit so fast plus they prolly wont be open cause they will not have any power.. fill up your cars with gas now before the price gouging starts. fill up your propane tank for the grill so you can cook.. i had over 300$ worth of meat i cooked up in 3 days cause it was defrosting so fast. i didnt eat meat for 1 month after that.. and thats hard for a 6'2 250lb black guy to do espeicilly when the chicken went bad. ill post any more stuff you might want to get if i can remember any..

Wow, Wilp now that is a trip... some how, I pictured you being a lanky white boy... j/k And yeah, That storm is one big motha-fawka... If you can't get out... better batten that shit down and chock it up tight... You'll be alright. Oh, stock up on all that stuff plus batteries and some dry ice... it will help keep your food a little longer than regular ice. The mayor of Galviston is cracking me up. That old gal is the appitomy of stubburn. Got to love her. Good luck with this thing...ayougo.

I know it sounds bad to say, but I hope it goes north and hits NewOrleans again. At least that will spare Texas the damage, and N.O. is already fucked up anyway. Maybe the gasoline and natural gas prices won't jump like they did following Katrina. Fucking Shell and their $3.29 dropped to $2.53... what I paid this morning... I drove by the same station on my way home... same fucking gas in there tanks and it is now $2.69. FUCKERS, damit I hate Bush. It ain't the weather doing that shit... that's for sure.

hell yea... im now stationed at macdill in tampa. sounds good but theres alot of bull shit, seing that our squadron is so small, and we gots all these eyes followin us up. things were alot better when i was at mcguire in nj. loved it.. i worked the kc-10's there. went tdy ALOT, bout 280 days of the year, but they made up for it by sendin you on cool trips to singapore, russia, china, vietnahm. the wife however didnt like me bein gone so much so here i am. and we just found out we got orders to mildinhall uk. well be there for 4 years. i guess well see whats up there. sorry to hijack the thread.
