Banging my head against the wall - rear suspension clunk HELP!
I have a really dangerous sounding clunk comming from my rear driver side suspension. It started earler this year with a squeek when turning left up hills.
Figuring it was the upper ball joint/control arm, I replaced it a few months ago. The squeek disapeared and was replaced but a soft clunk.
I could feel no play in the suspension when the car is jacked up so i thought it might be the sway bar.
I replaced the end link bushings, the bar to frame bushings looked fine.
Clunk is still there, and getting a lot worse. It clunks whenever I go over any kind of bump now.
What esle could it be?
The lower shock bushing looks fine, so i'm thinking it might be the strut mount?
I'm going to replace that this weekend and see, is there anything else I should look for while i'm in there?
I'm getting really frustrated (and i'm broke so that doesn't help).
Anyone?

sounds like the strut mount to me. Check and see if the upper nut is loose on the top of the strut. I made the mistake of installing my suspension without tightening the top nut down on my accord. It definately made a loud clunking noise. Hope this helps.

Strut mount, or bushings, maybe your rear sway arm bushings?

Turns out it was the rear trailing arm - the upper of the 2 small bushings walked out if the arm and rounded out the hole. As it turns out no one sells just the press in bushings so you have to replace the whole arm.
FYI, 94 Accord trailing arms are differant from the CL.... the front bushing to the frame is MUCH larger on the CL 80mm diameter vs 75mm on the accord. I tried to get parts from my local honda dealer by specing accord parts - ended up backfiring. The arm is identical other than the bushing though.
Anyhow shes all fixed up now and riding limosine quiet again

I'm having that same problem, it sounds like there's a bowling ball in my trunk when i ride over a bump. I was told its my struts. Stew97CL3.0 how much did it cost you to get yours fixed?

Ended up doing it myself actually. The part was 140$ cdn and it only took about an hour with hand tools. all the bolts are pretty accessable and not that tight. When I got the arm off the bushing literally fell out on the ground (and they are supposed to be pressed in).
I thought it was a broken strut too at 1st... was really hard to tell where it was comming from.
