Thumbs down Bad News 2.2

Well, i paid $1900.00 for my cl and it turns out i need $1000 of work to get her on the road.

- Upper ball joints (left+right)
- Outer tie rods (left+right)
- Rear breakes (could save rotors)
- Head light
- Hood latch
- Alignment

Engine, Trans., Clutch, all Perfect
Tires are fine
Frame is solid
She got rust on rear quarters and under the grill
Front bumber has minor crack under drivers side signal
window reg.'s are gone

Serves me right for buying as is.. but hey, $1000 gets me a solid car.
Should i pay it or no?

if you have a basic understanding of the car and some free time you can do all the above on your own except the alignment which will need to get done by a professional.

Those are all pretty easy things to replace yourself. Do enough shopping around and you can have all that stuff done for a lot less than $1000.

Yes, pay it. You have solid car and these things run forever. If you do the work like SupraManAG said, it would probably cost 1/3 the price you were quoted.

Yeah just buy accord parts on ebay when you do the suspension, works out cheaper. When I had to, I just bought whole new upper control arms for my front upper balljoints. Paid $70 for the pair I think shipped. That's all trivial crap really. Just when you do the tie rod ends, match them up as close to where yours are right now before you put them on so your alignment is not way the heck off when you drive it to the shop to get it aligned.

dude thats is no real hard part just get to it.

Why do you need to decide. You have an Acura for cheap.

I get mad dude cause seems like they do not see what they have right under their noses.

IF yo have no car experience or the time then don;t get into it.

you could do a basic tune-up. if you are willing to learn. Get a haynes manual for our cars or 94-97 honda accord haynes.

Get some spark plugs new. Oil and oil filter. Air Filter. CHeck all your fluids. Make sure your radiator fluid is not brown. Oh and type or brand you get what you pay for.

Do you have a V6 or 2.2*3

Any codes or check engine lights? usually if theres a problem with your emission system it'll throw a code. I would do a tune up first and then try to find out what levels in your exhaust are too high so you can narrow down the probable sources ie: catalytic converter, o2 sensors, egr.....

There's some good diy info for the fuel filter in the diy/faq forum, also I posted some more info about it back in the day. I would def do the tune up yourself, plugs, wires, dist cap after you seafoam of course, and your car should be like new for sure.

it could just be as simple as your MAF.. which isnt a difficult DIY either. id reccomend that before a cat. i do have a NIB magnaflow highflow cat i could sell you if your looking to replace yours. although from what i hear, they tend to throw codes with our cars, but a member on here did have a solution to this issue with a couple of nuts

More specifically some spark plug non-foulers to space the secondary O2 out of the direct exhaust but ya =)

Our cars don't have a MAF. They use a MAP sensor, and that's just pulling the old one out and putting a new one in. A bad MAP will be highly noticeable though, car will buck and not accelerate properly at all.

well my mechanic is a good guy.. he got me a new pcv and plugs but it like i said it didnt pass.. he said that its probably a cat, so im thinking 2.25" custom with:

- Catco cat. (will not throw codes, correct?)
- 22" res.
- magnaflow muffler

Where can i get the catco? and who makes cheap resonators?
p.s. custom = headers back
