Audio: Stock Radio system Q
hello,
ok, this may be a simple question, but I have searched and not found an answer for it,( maybe wrong keywords to search for???)
Setup: I have a stock Bose HU and stock Honda CD changer in my 97.
My question is, when I replace the Bose HU with an Alpine HU, will I still be able to use and access my stock Honda CD Changer? And if so, is there a cable I may need?
I have found answers for the reverse, ppl putting in an Alpine CD changer with stock radio, and needing the 8pin cable, but I haven't run across my question.
thanks in advance....

its possible, you would need an ALpine unit that uses the Alpine M-Bus connector........ model number will start with CDM for CD players or TDM for tape decks......... it'll go right into the CHM-S601 youve got back there
if you can find one of those you'll just pop the cable off the bac of the factory deck and plug into the M-bus port on the back of the new one
Problem for you is that ALpine stopped making M-bus units like 2 or 3 years ago.......... I did the same back as a 1st upgrade, but now I fully upgraded to a new Alpine Ai-net deck with a new Ai-net channger (CDA-9855 and CHA-S634 respectively)........... the MP3 capability is worth it for even just a single disc unit because 1 MP3 disc at capacity would probably be all the 6 CDs anf then some
you could alternatively try to find the RF adaptor kit made for M-bus changers by Alpine, but that's gonna be difficult and the sound quality will suffer
