Anyone ever use an oil stop leak product?

I'm not sure if it's a combination of sea foaming the crank or switching to synthetic but I'm leaking a small amount of oil. Besides the tiny tiny leak and likely burning a small amount of oil because of how old the car is I figure If there is a product that actually works I might be able to catch this now and plug it up before it gets worse.

I also put in regular synthetic instead of high mileages which likely didn't help.

So, has anyone used a stop leak on their engine oil that has had success or would recommend something to try?

keep that shit out of your engine... find the leak and replace the gaskets. if its internal then decide what you wanna do, i wouldnt ever use that stuff.

Just figured I would ask. I have no experience with any of that stuff. I know people have used radiator stop leaks but that's a different situation obviously.

I'll just keep my eye on her if I've got to feed her a quart or two a month so be it.

helllll noooooo
dont use that shit..
all it does is gunk up on the insides..
the reason why ur leaking is because the synthetic oil breaks down the seals and gaskets more than they already are-not to mention a lot faster..

radiator stop leak is fine because coolant is all water based, oil is obviously not. the combination of the oil + the sealant causes nasty inconsistencies in the interior of your engine. the only thing id suggest doing is maybe using a silicon gasket product and resealing all your gaskets. depending on the gap, you may be able to get it from the outside, especially on the valve cover.

the expensive ones lol

you get what you pay for with gaskets, just keep that in mind. If you get a metal or alloy gasket set.. make sure that you get one that matches the expansion rate of the metal in your engine. The F is alluminum alloy, im not sure what the J is. either way, a metal gasket is useless if it has a different expansion rate.

4 cylinder? crawl under and look up above the oil filter and see if your oil pressure sending unit is leaking. If you haven't ever replaced it, it probably is.

I am guessing it is in the same spot on the F23's as the F22's. It will have one wire coming straight out of it, you will need a 24mm deep socket to change it too. I think I paid like $25 at autozone for a new one.

Oil change to change or is it above the fluid level resting?

Well it is above the filter so I am unsure, I did the oil change while I was down there because the filter is in the way of using the wrench to get the sender out.

No no no! Never ever use ANY stop leak.. any mechanics in a bottle. Those band aids will fuk ur car over. I've seen with my own eyes, in an opened engine how the rad stop leak clogged the passages to the head for the coolant on a 95 corrola, and the head overheated, warped and cracked!

Do NOT use those things...
