Not trying to start shit, but you say you dont take pride in owning a first gen, than why do you add so much to it. Why waste time and money?

I think it looks real good, the 15th picture in that album is real nice.

 

Its not too bad from a distance, but when you get close you see the marks all over my bumper and the hood has cracks like a spider web.

 

Theres a VERY good answer to that actually. Every single part on my car is a result of a broken part.

The only reason i bought the CF hood is because i wrecked my old hood in a fender bender.

The only reason i bought the rims is because my other ones got Fubar'd. There was actually a HOLE in my rim like a nail went through it. And i got these rims for cheap.

I've actually gone through 3 sets of rotors, so i bought brembos this time. (only in the front)

The clutch went out and my flywheel was garbage so i bought the fidanza/excedy package for $250.

My axles were cashed when i got the car. Had to replace them.

I blew my stock struts so i put the KYB's on.

The exhaust and header is to fix my THREE (3) exhaust leaks. Dont even ask...

This car is forsaken.

EDIT: Actually i was starting to dislike my car a little bit less since i've gotten just about everything fixed.

 

that sucks dude. definitely get some rest and think before you make any CRAZY decisions... i.e. sell the car

I really havent ever liked this car. I ended up with the car because i was a fucking idiot and i REALLY wanted a car. I went out one day with $6k in cash in my pocked and was determined to come home with a car. This is what i ended up with and i've regretted it ever since. $6k could have gotten me a handful of other cars i would much rather have. I dont mean to offend anyone. Trust me i WISH i had the passion for the cl like the rest of you guys, but i just dont. I've tried to make the best of it and i always find myself regretting ever buying this car. I would be much happier getting rid of it and getting ANYTHING else. Even a truck or an SUV i dont even care.

Plus its worth less and less each day. I got it appraised for $2200 like a month after i bought it. That was depressing...

 

The 15th picture in the PUTFILE account you have is what we are referring too.

 

So, if you're saying that you only replace parts when they break...

1. Your shifter snapped in half, so you have a Pspec short shifter
2. Your seats collapsed under your weight, so you're putting in RSX leather seats
3. Your ultra-rare rare 1st gen navigation system blew up, so you're buying a Kenwood in-dash double din DVD/Nav


etc. If you truly didn't like the car, you wouldn't waste money on it "replacing" stuff.

This is especially stupid considering you even mention the depreciation value of the CL.

I feel for ya bro. I bought my CL back in '04 when i didn't know truley what i wanted. Don't get me wrong, its a great looking car. I just didn't know id have to deal with a shitty transmission and all kinds of little shit breaking down (alternator, window, etc, etc). Now i really wish i had that 10,250 back so i could put it towards a beema.

Regardless, i still love cars so i can't help but put money in/take car of my car.

 

Ok 1st off: The Pspec shifter was the first thing i bought before shit started breaking.

2nd: My seats are trashed. The drivers side seat is ripped up and the metal is sticking out of the side and always cuts my elbow.

3rd: Wtf "ultra rare" navi system are you talking about?

4th: Go away smartass.

Theres a BIG difference between WANT and NEED. I really dont WANT to have to keep dumping money into my car. TRUST ME. But i NEED to so that i can get to work.

Then you see where i'm coming from. It may not be the car itself, its probably just the fact that i spent all my money on this car when i could have easily gotten something better.

 

When I first got the car I was naive as well, and knew that I wanted a 323i. BUT, to fix things on a BMW was going to be a lot more, and still being in high school, that was going to work. But I ended up getting the CL and have been fine with it since. It has 110,000 miles on it so im expecting some things to go soon, but the car has really made me like it. I used to hate the backend but now i think its pretty interesting and the car overall has potential. I just wish i had lower milage.

Either way, do what you want and good luck with it.

And what kind of job does a 17 year old have thats so important, like dont you have school too? It sounds like you have a full time job or something.

Ok, lets say that your head unit broke. Why buy one with navigation (which is more $$$), when you already feel like you've wasted a lot on the car? If it's broken, get a new one, but no real reason to get GPS. Sure GPS is nice, but not a necessity.

YOu probably shouldn't have gotten a brand new headunit though, probably not the greatest investment. My CD player only plays half the time (get a weired code) and i haven't replaced it at all, although i probably should get one of those disc cleaner things.

 

Actually i do work full time. I cook at a restaurant in Atlanta. And no i dont go to school yet. I'm waiting a while before i start college.

 

Okay, well i got the head unit from a friend for a really good price actually, and i still have my stock radio that will be taking its place when i get a new car. The Kenwood will be going in whatever car i get next. Anything else? Are you going to call me out on my floormats? Because that would be really cool.

hm im glad im not the only one that got the CL as an impulse buy, i really wanted a TL and the cl was a step down........but i guess it was about 2 floors down instead.

Yeah, I didn't exactly get the greatest deal on my cl, but it could have been worse. At least it will last me.

good job. it's a 10 year old car that has been in harsh climates since 97. You're bound to get all that shit changed. I've changed ALL of that except for the clutch/flywheel. And even that's starting to feel like it doesnt catch fast and hard enough so I may need to change it soon too.
