To all you 2.x/3.0 autos:
Your shifters - do they feel loose when you change gears? Should it be very easy for the gears to go from P------>D4/d3/2/1?
Reason I ask, is that I was in a 2.2 auto today, and I was changing through the gears - The actual shifter was missing the silver button to allow gear change and from park, I could go all the way down the line If I wanted to.
Any comments? Suggestions? Thanks guys.

the shifter should "lock" itself into neutral + 3-4 and when you push the silver button down, it'll allow you to go into 1 or 2 or reverse. i think thats what my 2.2 auto did. it's been a while though.

If that is broken, you gotta be real careful. I knocked my car out of gear one day. If it had gone past nuetral, that would have sucked. Mine feels nice and tight. If i want to go to 2nd, gotta push the button... and the when I go from 2nd to first it clicks to lock out of 1st again and makes it free to move to 3rd.
