I have a couple clients that are in the process of quitting, I never knew how intense it is for them.
Have you guys tried the ionizer for the car.. if so does it work?

Im glad you stopped man. It does so much damage to you, I witnessed a lung surgery of a smoker, and they removed 80% of her right lung, it was jackd up.
Know anything about that mini air-ionizer?

Smoking is a sure SOB. I've been on and off for years. Longest pause was eight years. As for the crotch rot badussy smell... Jeeze you guys, get some duche or something. Or better yet, quit putting your fingers in her ass. Then you won't have "stink finger."

It is amazing what relational stress can do. Now I smoke when I am with certain freinds or at a big party with lots of other smokers. I've not bought a pack in almost two years. I could be called a professional cigarett bumb. HAHA.

Why pay for the social addition when you can have it for free?
What is the appeal of smoking.. it makes car stinky, and kissing unpleasant, I dated a smoker.. I felt dirty after.

I didn't smoke for 5 years...
Got with my girl who has been smoking for years and after about a month, I started smoking again. I think the combination of going through a divorce and being with a smoker may have caused me to smoke again.
I do agree, it is one of the nastiest smells and I can't stand it myself as a smoker.

I never smoked inside or in the car. I was able to hide it from my wife for a long time. Smoking outside doesn't get your clothes all smelly, washing your hands gets rid of the finger stench and gum, mouth wash or other breath fresheners get rid of the breath.
As for the appeal, I don't know. It is simply an addiction. Nobody goes out and says, "I think I want to go out and get addicted to a substance that can make me stink and give me cancer."
I think it is related to what people grew up with. I grew up around smokers and saw it as the norm. Of course, I don't know about teenage rebelion and all that stuff.
If you never have, DON'T.

Its sound like so much effort to hide it.
Dont worry, kissing a smoker is enough nicotine for my lifetime. I will always have second hand smoke to fill me up if I ever have the urge.
Substitute the addiction for something more healthy like working out, playing something, or sex. All healthy subs.. haha

I was the worse former smoker...
I could smell the shit a mile away and would always say something, then I realized how asinine I was being and began to just deal with it.
I would never let anyone smoke in my car, including my girl.
You can mask the scent, but you can't cover it up (if that makes sense).
No smoking in the house, but my leather jacket smells like smoke from the bar and I need to figure out how to get that out. That scent makes me nauseous from it all the time.
Hmm, maybe I'll use my leather cleaner from my car on it!

I grew up with a father and step mother who smoked in the house all day long (I was only there on Saturdays though) and everyone of my brothers (including step) and sisters (except one) became smokers. My sister and myself (oldest and youngest) were the only ones not to be smokers (before). As a teenager I couldn't stand the smell of it, so I never smoked with my friends or anything.
Then...
I joined the Marine Corps and after 3 months of boot camp, I went to my School of Infantry and started smoking while living in the field all week... Bad...
One of my brothers did the same thing when he joined the Army...
To each their own, but I do hate it...

See this Thread wasnt so
Anyhow, Masking instead of covering makes sence. Like u dont eliminate the smell, just over power it with something else.
Smoking is abuse to yourself and car. People say smoke doesnt stick to leather, I beg to differ. My friends moms car wreeks of smoke, the leather is saturated, maybe the foam inside, but its

My car is quite girly smelling. I have a cinnamon stick freshner under one seat, sugar cookie under the other and had a clean linen in the trunk. When I get in I always have a different perfume and lotion on so it just adds to it. The Valet guys at work are always telling me how good my car smells
I'm still fighting the cigarette smoke smell from the Aamco techs though... I've febreezed the shit out of my car and cleaned the carpets and the headliner. I'm still waiting for that shit to go away

Ive been without a nasty cig for about 2 weeks. I have learned that crack actually takes the nicotene edge off.. I just don't know what im gonna do to wein myself off the crack, maybe heroin..
The one thing that I found with smells is that carpet powder crap for your house that you sprinkle on the carpet then vacuum it up. That stuff lasts for like a month. Thats what I use when I detail my car, then when that wears off its the vanilla trees...

Get som saddle soap for your leather and then use a balm to re seal it. "Other trees," ! And yes, it was a great deal of effert to cover up my habbit only for a few moments of tobaco bliss. (smokers will understand this)
By the by, great thread you all.

Have any of you replaced your interior carbon filter? I'm not asking how, I just wondered if anyone had gone to the trouble. I was thinking about it and studied the procedure. What a pain in the ASS. But, I get the feeling it would be cool to replace it with a hepafilter+charcoal type filter. There is nothing worse than getting cut-off and stuck in idling traffic behind some ass-trophy with a cloud of oil and unspent fuel pouring out of his or her POS, super-sized SUV. Suddenly your car smells like "Other trees," bodussy, burning oil and poorly-catalized exhaust. Just the way I roll.
Sorry for the rant.

I just replaced my original cabin filters after 105k and they literally had sludge build up in them, but they don't really seem to be any better with the new ones...
A hepa and charcoal sounds better though...
