aftermarket amp bose speakers?

Can I hookup an aftermarket amp to my stock bose speakers? Are the bose 2 ohm speakers?

I know there is a bose amp behind the jack assembly in the truck. I pretty sure that the factory bose speakers are not 2 ohm; I cannot tell you what ohm they are, though. You would do better getting an amp with new speakers than trying to hook an amp up to the bose.

you can, but you'll be doing more harm than good. The bose amp has an internal EQ that is pre-set. Its what makes the really crappy speakers sound somewhat decent... taking out the amp will get rid of the bose equalization.

If your goal is better sound, start with a better source unit.

The bose speakers ARE 2 ohm a piece

yeah hes also right on that...neva said that wouldnt happen......but yeah for the time being you can add an amp...but kind of pointless..........if u aint got the $.....then get speakers before you buy an amp

buy a sub and another amp and you'll be good to go; you don't really need to buy new speakers for the inside of your car - the sound will be great with the added components in the trunk.

Actually, you'd just have alot of bass, some muddy mids and mediocre highs.

Find an aftermarket headunit with at least 2 sets of 4 volt preouts and possibly an internal amp switch (or no internal amp at all), wire the preouts to a harness adapter with RCA connectors, plug it all in and enjoy much better sound. Source unit is always the best place to start. No sence in trying to improve on a lousy signal.
