Aem V2 Installed!

ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS

i might have to put this sticker in my car

seriously the diff from my v1 to v1 was like my oem to my v1. the car pulls so much harder its not even funny. the exhuast sounds straight nasty. its like a whole diff cl now. definitely surprised the hell out of me. keep in mind i have a full 2.5" hks cat back and dc cc header to get all that air out. my cl no longer sounds like angry bees, IT GROWLS!

final thoughts
-the fact that the v2 for our app isnt a tru cai made me skeptical
-possible ducting and a heat sheild could net better performance
-aem did their homework
-aem filter is about 1/4 the weight of the k&n
-the gunmetal grey color is sweet
-the deep throaty sound is sick (similar to ice box)
-$100 more is still to pricey
-V2 is better then the V1 hands down on f22 or f23 engines

pics

side by side comparison

diff pipe sizes

aem (left) vs k&n (right) filter

v1 is true cai while v2 is more of a short ram

v1 looks so cool going into the bumper i miss it already
v2 barely fit becuase of my xenon projectors

if you dont have an intake i highly reccommend the v2 over the v1 for 2.2 and 2.3 cls. i got my v2 for $245 shipped from import horizon. took 2 days to get it. can't wait to go drive the cl again.

one word to sum up my experience with the V2 is DAAAAAAMN!

guys i dotn work for aem!

when u say over rated i would agree if your talkin about the $100 difference, but as far as performane

the v2 is better then the v1 hands down on F22 and F23 engines at least.

the v1 kills low end on the f22 and f23 so the increase in tq and low end power gets my car accelerating much faster and the v2 seems to make as much power up high as the v1.

im not sayin go swap out ur v1 for a v2 becuase the steep price of the v2 is a little much. i have no idea how a V2 would perform on any other car besides a f22 or f23 engine. also aem did say that their r & d was designed on an accord with a full exhaust system (h/e) not a stock one. they also said the v2 was intended to be used by the more serious modder and he or she would most likely have other bolt ons so they designed around that.

WOW, pardon me, sir. I must have been too busy looking at VX's beautiful new intake. Next time, I'll PM you my message before I post it so I don't ever look like a noob again.

Calling someone a noob reminds me of people always telling you "oh, you're too young for that!" and crap like that. If you're that crabby to point that out, which wasn't even addressed to you in the first place, PLEASE go get laid. Last thing we all need is you in that frame of mind crossing paths with a loaded handgun.

Guys quit being ricers. The V2 really does add some gains in spots the normal CAI can't touch. On the 3.0, it gains almost 10whp (MAX GAIN). Now, it only gains 1-2whp PEAK over the standard CAI, but IT'S NOT ALL ABOUT PEAKS!!!

I'm def getting the V2 for my 3.0CL. If 10whp isn't worth $100 to you, just stop modding now and quit.

i will definitely get a heat sheild for it and create some kind of ducting to help get air to come through the hole from the engine bay to the fender. the cl has more room the the 94-97 accord.

exactly, that's what i said in my 1st post b4 i installed it. i dont see any loss on top end which is great vs my v1. in most v2 dynos ive seen it makes more low end then the short ram. the v2 seems to be the best of both worlds. im going to see if i can fit my oem air box over it and mimic comptechs ice box or construct something myself out of stainless. ice box dynos i've seen are similar to the v2 except the icebox keeps makin power and doesnt drop off. so i hope to achieve the same result.

if my local buyer falls through im looking for $80 shipped. it looks new and its 3 years old!

I never said it adds 10whp PEAK. I said it adds almost 10whp GAIN at some point over the standard AEM CAI. Read below.

AEM dyno'd it on a guy from V6P.net's car. They ran the stock, standard CAI, and the V2. They don't have this on their site but I've seen it. From an email from A. Suchy at AEM, the v2 showed 9.7whp and 10.1tq gained from stock with the v2, and 9.4whp gain over the standard CAI at one point. It's right around 3250-3750rpm where the dip is on the standard CAI. There is no such dip on the V2. The dual tuning apparently really helps.

Man, people gotta pay attention a lil more. Huge difference between peak hp and gains of hp at "A" given point on the dyno. All audio22 was stating was:

example:

AEM V1
at 3500rpm the CL produces 155hp

AEM V2
at 3500rpm the CL produced 165hp

now, letz say that the final power was 200hp for the V1 at 6000rpm, and the V2 was 202hp at 6000rpm.

The final peak hp over the V1 is 2hp, but you get a max of 10whp over the V1 at "A" given point on the dyno graph. Do you guys get it now? Please dont assume these numbers are accurate, I just made them up so that you guys understand what he was trying to tell you guys from the begining.

If ya still dont get it, then maybe someone else can better explain it. I was kinda in a hurry...sorryz....

I just want it decently quick so that I'm not embarassed by some of the newer mid-lines. I'll have the Vic soon for going fast and embarassing other fast cars. :P
